In recent years, with the introduction of a series of child welfare policies and security systems in China,it indicates that the child welfare system is changing from the original fill-in type to the goal of moderate inclusive type.At the same time,it also reveals that the system construction is still in its infancy, and there are inevitably omissions and deficiencies. The de facto unattended children are a special type of children, which means that children in distress without guardians or guardians without guardianship. They need social care and protection as well as orphans and left-behind children, but they are rarely known in reality and are in a‘ aphasia ’ situation. At present,China’ s relief work for de facto unattended children mainly stays in the content of material provision and economic relief, and the relief work is insufficient, and the psychological relief for de facto unattended children is not deep.As a professional discipline of ‘ helping others and helping themselves ’,social work has the responsibility to protect the mental health development of de facto unattended children. In this regard, the author was fortunate to participated in the ‘ childcare growth ’ project undertaken by the C Social Work Service Center, and investigated the de facto unattended children group. It was found that the self-identity of the group was generally low, which seriously affected the normal development in survival, cognition, learning and interpersonal aspects. It is urgent for social work to improve their self-identity.In view of the above problems, this study focuses on how social work can effectively improve the self-identity of de facto unattended children. In the early stage, through the organization of children ’ s supervisors and village children ’ s director to carry out feedback and the author ’ s field visits,a de facto unattended children with low self-identity was selected as the case owner after comprehensive consideration.First of all,the author uses the participatory observation method,semi-structured interview method and questionnaire survey method to find that the low self-identity of the client is mainly manifested in negative self-evaluation,self-target confusion and strong self-closure.According to the ABC theory of rational emotional therapy model, the author believes that the reason may be caused by the four irrational beliefs hidden in the client,so the rational emotional therapy model is selected to intervene in the client.Secondly,in the process of intervention service, the author mainly uses the examination, debate, alternative selection and imagination of the rational emotional therapy model to deconstruct the irrational beliefs of the client, reconstruct the rational beliefs of the client and consolidate the intervention effect of the client according to the irrational belief characteristics of the client. In addition,at the end of the case, the author mainly adopted the method of process evaluation and result evaluation to evaluate the social work intervention service, and test whether the problem of the case owner is solved and whether the service plan goal is achieved. Finally, the author summarizes and reflects on this research. In summary, the author puts forward that the problem of self-identity of de facto unattended children urgently needs social work intervention;rational emotional therapy model is effective in improving the self-identity of de facto unattended children. In terms of suggestions, the author integrates the research process and practical process of this study, and puts forward three suggestions on how to better improve the self-identity of de facto unattended children: First, give play to the role of the government as the main body and innovate the social assistance system. The second is to cultivate local social work institutions and cultivate permanent volunteer teams. The third is to set up role models and guide self-identity exploration.
