Along with the publication of the new curriculum standard,a new education reform is also being carried out,and the education idea and the teaching mode are also updated.STSE education concept advocates the combination of science education with society,science and environment,etc.,so as to deepen students’ consciousness of the relevance of science and technology to social growth and to elevate their awareness of environmental protection.PBL teaching advocates problem-based learning,problem-centered,student-oriented learning,and emphasizes that small combinations are the process of acquiring knowledge.In this study,PBL teaching is conducted based on the STSE theory,where students are given a genuine STSE situation,infiltrate the content about STSE into the classroom,and students acquire chemistry-related knowledge through group cooperation and communication,expanding their horizons,improving their independent inquiry and communication skills,and putting the subject core literacy into practice.The study is divided into six parts:The first part is a literature review of the STSE education concept and the national and international level of this topic,as well as an explanatory note on the significance of the study and the setting of the study.And the goals,contents,and thoughts of the study and methodology of the project are fully explained.The secondary part of the study defines the concepts of STSE education and PBL teaching involved in this study,and use constructivist theory,recent development area theory and cooperative learning theory as the theoretical basis.The third part is to survey the situation of students about PBL teaching under the STSE philosophy,interview teachers’ understanding and views on STSE education and PBL teaching,and determine the feasibility of PBL teaching based on the STSE concept.The fourth part is based on the conclusion of the third part to determine the teaching principles of PBL teaching based on the STSE concept: follow the new chemistry curriculum standards,student-centered,teacher-student participation,and openness.The development of PBL teaching mode based on STSE concept is divided into three teaching stages: before,during and after class.Each stage has a corresponding link,which coordinates the entire teaching.The fifth part is the two sections of "Iron Iron Oxides" and "Alloys",in which the teaching examples are considered and the pedagogical practice is carried out,and the pedagogical efficiency is evaluated and students are being interviewed.The sixth part is a summation of the study and a reflection on the study and the outlook.It is concluded that PBL teaching based on STSE concept can not only improve students’ initiative in learning,improve students’ attention to the links between chemistry and science,technology,society,science and technology,but also strengthen the conclusion of students’ cooperation and exchanges.Some shortcomings of the study were also found:(1)limitations in the scope and time of the study.(2)The limitations of teachers’ teaching experience.Based on the above shortcomings,it also proposes a perspective to expand the scope of research,to integrate educational resources and to optimise the teaching staff.
