| The chemistry curriculum criteria for compulsory education in 2022 declare unequivocally: energetically carry out core literacy-oriented teaching, emphasis on interdisciplinary practical activities, and encourage the development of students’ core literacy.Interdisciplinary teaching,as a new teaching mode, integrates contents with high correlation among various disciplines on the basis of focusing on the internal logic of each discipline, and allows students to analyze and solve complex problems from a multidisciplinary perspective through knowledge transfer between disciplines to effectively develop students’ core literacy. As a result, this issue investigates the importance of interdisciplinary chemistry teaching in compulsory education from both theoretical and practical perspectives, and analyzes the function of interdisciplinary teaching in building students’ core literacy, which has significant practical implications. We used the literature research method in this study to analyze the current situation of "literacy-oriented interdisciplinary teaching" at home and abroad,as well as questionnaires to determine the current situation of interdisciplinary teaching among junior high school teachers and interdisciplinary learning of chemistry among junior high school students. Most junior high school teachers are aware of the importance and role of interdisciplinary teaching, but their awareness is low and they rarely practice it;junior high school students are interested in interdisciplinary learning of chemistry and have some interdisciplinary awareness, but their interdisciplinary ability and mastery of chemistry knowledge are not optimistic.Based on the questionnaire analysis,an interdisciplinary teaching model of chemistry targeted to core literacy was developed by merging the CASES-T model. We studied the curriculum standards of chemistry, biology, physics, geography, and ethics and rule of law in junior high school, sorted out the content of relevant textbooks, and clarified that "global warming" is an urgent interdisciplinary issue to be analyzed and solved in this study, with the theme of "Designing low-carbon action plans based on the concept of carbon neutrality." We developed specific interdisciplinary chemistry teaching examples based on "fossil fuels" and "carbon dioxide" on this basis. The experimental research method was used to conduct a practical teaching study in ninth grade(11)class(experimental class)and ninth grade(8)class(control class)of a junior high school in Tengzhou City,Shandong Province, using the interdisciplinary teaching and traditional teaching modes, respectively. The practical effects of interdisciplinary teaching were studied in a variety of ways, including a comparison of pre and post test scores between the experimental and control classes, project production in the experimental class, and post-class interviews with students in the experimental class using the interview method. The analysis discovered that: the experimental class’ s post-unit test scores were generally higher than the control class’ s,and there were significant differences between the two classes in the interdisciplinary scores;the students in the experimental class were able to use their knowledge and adopt various approaches to develop projects centered on the issue of "global warming";and all of the students interviewed said they had gained something from this interdiscipline.According to research, interdisciplinary teaching is required in compulsory education;interdisciplinary teaching can improve students’ enthusiasm in learning;and interdisciplinary teaching can,to some extent, help students’ core literacy development. The study’s innovation is that it for the first time in the new curriculum combines junior high school core literacy with interdisciplinary teaching, establishes a core literacy-oriented interdisciplinary teaching model for chemistry, and integrates interdisciplinary teaching into junior high school chemistry classrooms based on the model, providing some reference for future related research. |
