Computational thinking refers to the ability of individuals to solve problems using thinking methods in the field of computer science. It is one of the important indicators to measure primary school students’ digital literacy, specifically including abstraction, algorithms, decomposition, data representation, data analysis, and other aspects. The "Information Technology Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)"highlights the important role of computational thinking in students’ problem development abilities. The cultivation of primary school students’ computational thinking is also a key content of current school education and the main direction of curriculum development. The cultivation of primary school students’ computational thinking has become a current research hotspot. After reviewing previous literature,it was found that the training forms of primary school students’ computational thinking are diverse and rich, but most of them focus on graphical programming;More importantly, rural schools often have more difficulties in cultivating pupils’computational thinking due to the lack of educational resources and the low level of information application. In order to help rural schools improve their educational level and enrich the cultivation methods of computing thinking in rural schools, the Huawei Science and Technology Primary School Project developed by Huawei Technology Company has taken root in rural areas of Ningxia, aiming to cultivate and improve the computing thinking of rural senior pupils through high-quality curriculum resources such as project-based learning. This study is based on the implementation of the Huawei Science and Technology Primary School Project, with five rural primary schools in Xixia District,Ningxia Province as the research objects. It focuses on the implementation process of the Huawei Science and Technology Primary School Project in these five schools, and explores the impact of the Huawei Science and Technology Primary School Project on rural primary school students’computational thinking. The research includes three aspects:First, through sorting out relevant literature at home and abroad, clarify the connotation of computational thinking, sort out relevant theoretical support, summarize existing evaluation tools for computational thinking, and select suitable evaluation tools for calculating thinking of senior primary school students;Secondly,it elaborates the design of the Huawei Science and Technology School project and its implementation in Ningxia, and analyzes and discusses the theoretical connection between the content of the Huawei Science and Technology School project and computational thinking;Thirdly, using the Computational Thinking Scale for Primary School Students,Computational Thinking Test Questions for Primary School Students, and Graphic Analysis Flow Chart,we conducted a follow-up survey of students in five schools.Combining pre and post test data and process evaluation results,we analyzed the impact of the Huawei Science and Technology Primary School Project on primary school students’ computational thinking.t.After analyzing the pre and post test data and process evaluation content,it was found that:(1)Overall,students in five rural primary schools have significant differences in the pre and post test scores of the Computational Thinking Scale, and significant differences in the pre and post test scores of primary school students’ Computational Thinking Test, which is manifested by a significantly higher score in the post test than in the pre test;(2)Specifically,there is a significant difference in the pre and post test scores of the Computational Thinking Scale among the four primary schools A,C,D,and E,while there is no significant difference in the pre and post test scores of the B primary school;(3)The flow chart evaluation table is presented and collected in groups. All student groups in five rural primary schools have significant differences in the pre and post test scores of the flow chart, and the post test scores are significantly higher than the pre test scores. To sum up,there is not only a theoretical connection between the content of the Huawei Science and Technology Primary School Project and computational thinking, but also a promoting effect of the Huawei Science and Technology Primary School Project on computational thinking among primary school students in five rural schools in Xixia District,Ningxia in the practical process. The results provide strong support for the implementation of the Huawei Science and Technology Primary School Project in Ningxia, and provide empirical evidence for the cultivation of computational thinking among rural primary school students.
