From an international perspective,the role of sex education in improving children’s sexual cognition,enhancing children’s sexual safety awareness,helping children establish correct gender roles,and cultivating children’s healthy sexual psychology has been widely recognized.In recent years,with people’s attention to sex education,children’s sex education has achieved rapid development,many schools in urban areas are actively exploring and promoting school sex education and have achieved certain results.However,restricted by traditional sex concepts and lack of sex education resources in rural areas,rural schools have great resistance in promoting children’s sex education.At the same time,there are many left-behind children in rural areas,who generally lack family sex education,thus,Children generally have problems such as low level of sexual cognition and lack of awareness of sexual safety,which leads to frequent occurrence of child sexual assault in rural areas.Through the analysis of relevant data,the author found that lower grade students in primary schools are the biggest victims of child sexual assault incidents.Therefore,it is necessary to carry out school sex education for the lower grade students in rural primary schools.This study takes the lower grade students in rural primary schools as the research object,and selects 6 rural primary schools in L County of Sichuan Province as samples,and adopts literature method,questionnaire method and interview method to study the sex education of the lower grade students in rural primary schools.The author conducted a questionnaire survey on the sample school teachers and parents of junior students from the five dimensions of sex education needs and attitudes,the source and mastery of sex education knowledge,the development of sex education,sex education support,and sex education dilemma,and then selected some school administrators、teachers、parents and the head of a social welfare organization in rural areas for interviews,in order to understand the actual situation of sex education in rural primary school students of lower grade,find its existing problems,and put forward countermeasures to improve.After investigation,it is found that,under the influence of such factors as parents’ bias towards sex education,the government’s lack of policy guidance on sex education,school administrators’ neglect of sex education,and teachers’ lack of professional ability of sex education,the sex education of lower grade students in rural primary schools has the following problems: Left-behind children become the blind area of sex education,schools are faced with the "three nots" of sex education,the implementation of sex education in schools lacks effectiveness,and schools fail to get adequate support from families and communities.In this regard,the author tries to propose some strategies to improve the sex education of lower grade students in rural primary schools according to the research on sex education.First,the government needs to increase its support for sex education.Secondly,schools need to strengthen the management of sex education;Thirdly,teachers need to improve their professional knowledge and teaching ability of sex education.Finally,parents need to shift traditional prejudices about sex education.We believe that through the efforts and cooperation of various parties,we will promote the positive development of sex education for the lower grade students in rural primary schools,and provide certain guarantee for the physical and mental health development of the lower grade students in rural primary schools. |
