Ideological and political course is the key course to carry out the fundamental task of fostering character and civic virtue.The course of morality and rule of law in junior middle school is the ideological and political course in the compulsory education stage,which should be centered on cultivating people and based on establishing morality.With the heroic figures and ordinary people in the combat COVID-19,the spirit of "putting people’s lives first,nationwide solidarity,sacrifice,respecting science,and a sense of mission for humanity."has emerged.The spirit of combating the COVID-19 epidemic is the inheritance,promotion,enrichment and development of the Chinese national spirit,which has a unique educational value for the course of morality and rule of law in junior middle school.In addition,according to the spiritual instructions of the document"Opinions of the Ministry of Education on Further Strengthening the Construction of Ideological and Political Courses in Primary and secondary Schools in the New Era",great practical achievements in the new era and educational resources formed in the aspects of current political news,major activities and combating the COVID-19 epidemic should be fully utilized,as so to enrich the educational content of ideological and political courses and integrate them into classroom teaching organically.Therefore,it is necessary to integrate the spirit of combating the COVID-19 epidemic with the course of morality and rule of law in junior middle school,and it is also a practical need to improve the teaching effectiveness of the course of morality and rule of law in junior middle school.The spirit of combating the COVID-19 epidemic has rich connotations and times value.Its integration with the teaching of morality and rule of law in junior middle school is an inevitable choice to implement the subject core competencies,an inevitable requirement to implement the fundamental task of fostering character and civic virtue,an inevitable measure to build comprehensive curricula,an inevitable path to promote teaching to be more modern and life-oriented,and a realistic need to improve the effectiveness of education.Based on the questionnaire survey,it is found that the integration of the spirit of combating the COVID-19 epidemic and the teaching of morality and rule of law in junior middle school has achieved certain results,but there are also some problems,such as single integration method,poor integration effect,insufficient integration depth,weak integration consciousness and weak integration atmosphere.The reasons resulting in the above problems are the following ones:the lack of in-depth research on teachers’ the spirit of combating the COVID-19 epidemic and teaching materials,the lack of attention to the integration of the spirit of combating the COVID-19 epidemic and teaching,the lack of awareness of teachers’ integration of the spirit of combating the COVID-19 epidemic and teaching,and the lack of synergy between the spirit of combating the COVID-19 epidemic and teaching.In response to the problems existing in the integration of the spirit of combating the COVID-19 epidemic and the teaching of morality and rule of law in junior middle school,the corresponding principles and countermeasures are put forward.The principles of the unity of value and knowledge,theory and practice,dominance and subjectivity,indoctrination and inspiration should be adhered to.Active measures should be taken from three aspects:innovating teaching methods and means,improving teachers’ professional knowledge and ability,and forming various educational forces,so as to promote the optimization and development of the integration of the spirit of combating the COVID-19 epidemic and the teaching of morality and rule of law in junior middle school.
