In order to effectively reduce the burden of homework and after-school training of the students in the compulsory education stage,promote the comprehensive development and healthy growth of students,and build a harmonious education ecology,the policy of "Further Reducing the Homework Burden and After-school Training Burden of Students in the Compulsory Education Stage" has issued and implemented in July,2021.In March 2022,the Ministry of Education successively released<the Curriculum Plan for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)>and the curriculum standards for all subjects in the compulsory education stage.In this context,how to effectively carry out after-school activities has become a hot research topic for many scholars.The purpose of this study is to explore the application.of HPS education concept in the after-school activities of junior middle school physics.This study reviewed and analyzed relevant literature to understand the development and research process of HPS education at home and abroad,as well as the current research status of after-school activities at home and abroad.It also expounded the connection between HPS education and after-school services,and found that there is no relevant research on integrating HPS education into junior high school physics after-school activities in China.This study conducted questionnaires and interviews with junior high school physics teachers to understand the current situation of after-school services in junior high school physics and their understanding of HPS education.Through analyzing the survey results,it was found that "homework guidance is the main focus of after-school physics activities in junior high school","most teachers will incorporate HPS content into daily teaching activities","most teachers recognize the positive role of HPS content in students’ study","teachers lack theoretical knowledge and practical experience related to HPS education",and "teachers are willing to try to integrate HPS education into after-school services under the premise of mature cases".On the basis of literature analysis and investigation analysis,this research,based on the constructivist learning theory and humanistic learning theory,proposed the steps to carry out the after-school activities of junior high school physics based on HPS education,that is"determine the theme of the activity","formulate teaching objectives","sort out teaching materials","design the activity process","implement teaching activities","summarize and reflect",and elaborated the after-school service design design strategy of junior high school physics based on HPS education,That is,"selecting activity themes reasonably based on teaching reality","designing teaching objectives accurately around core competencies","selecting HPS content,coordinating and organizing teaching materials","following basic principles and flexibly designing teaching activities","comparing teaching objectives and conducting teaching evaluations in a timely manner".According to the above theoretical basis and design strategy,this research has designed a series of activities of "Human and Energy" for reference,which includes three interrelated lessons:"from ’drilling wood to make fire’ to ’artificial sun’","perpetual motion machine-the savior of the energy crisis?" and "nuclear energy development,I have something to say".These cases are elaborated from four aspects:design ideas,activity objectives,activity processes,and evaluation forms.This study applies the series of activities of "Human and Energy" to teaching practice,and conducts practical evaluations based on four dimensions:teacher evaluation,student feedback,author’s teaching reflection,and evaluation table result statistics.The practical effects are also discussed.Practice has shown that in the after-school activities of junior high school physics based on HPS education,abundant HPS resources enrich the content of afterschool services and broaden students’ knowledge range,diverse forms of activities enhance the participation of after-school activities and stimulate students’ initiative,innovative educational methods enhance the integration of subjects and improve students’ comprehensive abilities.This study proposes a new educational model of "junior high school physics after-school activities based on HPS education",designs a case study of junior high school physics afterschool activities based on HPS education to provide reference for teachers,and summarizes the execution methods of junior high school physics after-school activities based on HPS education that can be transferred.
