Compulsory Education Curriculum Standards:Chinese(2022 Edition)requires that the Chinese discipline should focus on the basic task of "Cultivating Morality to Educate people" and promote the development of students’ "Core Quality".Hence,the core quality of Chinese discipline has slowly become a significant focus in the process of Chinese teaching.As an important auxiliary reading system in Chinese textbooks,illustration is an essential resource for teachers to implement and cultivate the core quality of Chinese subjects.As a treasure of Chinese culture,"Ancient Poems and Prose" are illustrated in Chinese textbooks.With the help of text interpretation function of the illustrations,the inner spirit of poems is transformed into visual images,thus promoting students’ learning of ancient poems and prose.The illustrations of ancient poems and prose have the characteristics of "Containing Traditional Culture","High Compatibility of Illustration and Text" and"Harmonious Color Collocation",which is an important reading aid system.The use of illustrations in teaching has the value of "cultivating students’ cultural confidence,promoting students’ language application,enhancing students’ thinking ability and broadening students’ aesthetic creativity".Starting from teachers’ teaching and guidance to students,this study uses questionnaire survey,interview method,classroom observation and text analysis method to analyze and summarize the survey results from the three accepts of teachers’ "attitude and value understanding of illustration" "application of illustration" and "guidance of illustration application".It is found that some teachers have a weak consciousness of taking the initiative to use illustrations of ancient poetry and prose,and the value of illustrations in the teaching of ancient poetry and prose is insufficient,and the use of illustrations is relatively simple,and there are some problems in the process of guiding students to learn ancient poetry and prose.In view of the above problems,this paper analyzes the causes and finds that the problems in the application of illustrations in the teaching of ancient poetry and prose are caused by the low professional quality of some teachers in the application of illustrations,the lack of teaching and research activities and platforms for the teaching and application of illustrations,the limited resources available for the course of illustrations of ancient poetry and prose,and the lack of learning and guidance on illustrations.In view of the above problems,this paper analyzes the causes and finds that the problems in the application of illustrations in the teaching of ancient poetry and prose are caused by the lack of teachers’ professional quality in the application of illustrations,the lack of learning and guidance in the application of illustrations,the limited resources available for the application of illustrations in the course,and the lack of teaching and research activities and platforms for the teaching and application of illustrations.Firstly,in the pre-class preparation stage,teachers should establish the awareness of using illustrations and clarify the value of illustrations.Secondly,relevant departments of the school should build a teaching platform for teachers,and teachers should seize the opportunity to strengthen training and observation,so as to improve the skills of illustration teaching.In the classroom teaching stage,we should pay attention to the teaching of the application value of illustration teaching and cultivate students’core quality through illustration teaching.After class,teachers can recommend extracurricular picture books for students to read,so as to strengthen students’ awareness of reading pictures.At the same time,teachers should timely find resources,optimize illustrations and improve the effectiveness of illustrations in case of poor picture and text compatibility in textbooks.
