The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics has not only brought a major opportunity for the popularization of ice and snow sports, bringing the originally ’niche’ sport into the public eye,but has also boosted the development of ice and snow clubs in schools. As ice and snow sports require high levels of space, equipment and professional teachers,it is impossible to rely entirely on physical education classes. Therefore, the formation of student clubs has become one of the most important ways to deepen the reform of physical education,to implement the concept of "five education together" and to foster the all-round development of young people, and campus ice and snow clubs have also embarked on the "fast track" of development in this environment. The healthy and sustainable development of school ice and snow clubs is of great significance to the popularization of ice and snow sports, the cultivation of ice and snow reserves to promote China’s progress towards a strong ice and snow country, the implementation of the integration of sports and education, and the creation of a good ice and snow activity environment for young people. This study uses theories of human nature, student development and student participation as theoretical support, and adopts the methods of literature, interviews and case studies to explore the strategic value, development dynamics and practical limitations of the construction of ice and snow clubs in primary and secondary schools in Beijing. The study also investigates and analyses the development history, activity forms, management systems and conditions of the societies.Through the analysis of the findings, the study draws out successful experiences in the development of current clubs and identifies problems in the development of ice and snow clubs in schools. The study also explores the development of ice and snow clubs in the post-Winter Olympics period to help them develop in a sustainable way.The main findings of the study are: 1.The most important factors affecting the development of ice and snow clubs in primary and secondary schools in Beijing are still funding, teachers and venues.2.Ice and snow clubs in primary and secondary schools in Beijing mainly focus on ice sports such as curling, ice hockey, short track speed skating and figure skating.3.Joint teaching between schools and out-of-school training institutions(e.g.clubs)has become an effective way for clubs to promote the development of clubs.4.There is a gap in government attention, publicity and financial support for the development of current primary and secondary school ice and snow clubs compared to the Winter Olympics periodSustainable development paths in the post-Winter Olympics period.Government: 1.Strengthen top-level design for clubs at this stage.2.Support the construction of schools with ice and snow characteristics by appropriately relaxing the standards.3.Secure funding through government financing and social support.4.Make good use of Winter Olympics venues and out-of-school activity centre.Social level: 1.Out-of-school training institutions(e.g.clubs)actively share teachers and venues with schools.2.Out-of-school training institutions(e.g.clubs)and schools jointly organize cross-district and sub-school events.3.Government,schools and society achieve a trinity of synergistic development. The school level: 1.individual responsibility for the work of the club.2.emergency plans and professional medical teams.3.physical and land training within the school.3.introduction of retired athletes, university special students and training of our teachers in parallel.4.use of winter camps to develop snow sports.5.improve self-governance and planning of the club.6.regular organization of club showcases.Students and parents: 1.raise awareness of students and parents through publicity.2.involve parents in the construction of clubs.3.enhance students’ sense of identity with snow and ice culture.
