With the rise of modern capitalism,the study of metrological historiography has mainly focused on economic and demographic history,and by the beginning of the twenty-first century it has attracted increasing attention from scholars and become a new trend in the development of historiography.Both data historical materials and econometric historical research are related to quantity;data historical materials is a kind of historical material,while econometric historical research is a kind of method,and econometric historical research cannot be separated from data historical materials.In recent years,front-line history teachers also use various forms of data historical materials in the classroom,which has improved classroom efficiency to a certain extent.However,in actual teaching,there are some problems with the application of data historical materials.2017 General High School History Curriculum Standard proposes to implement the cultivation goal of core literacy in history,and data historical materials,as a kind of material for studying history,play an important role in cultivating students’ literacy of historical evidence and historical interpretation.Therefore,the study of the application strategies of data historical materials in high school history classroom teaching has certain pedagogical application value.This paper uses the theory of measurement history as a guide,clarifies the concept of data history,explains its relationship with measurement history,and classifies data history in relation to teaching cases,then analyses the value of data history in four aspects: teachers,students,high school examinations and teaching effectiveness.The use of data historical materials in senior secondary history classrooms can effectively improve teachers’ professionalism,develop students’ core historical literacy,help students cope with measurement-based test questions and enhance the effectiveness of classroom teaching.Through the questionnaire survey,the current problems in the use of data history in high school history classroom teaching are analysed and the reasons for them.Teachers need to supplement the textbooks with types of data sources that are missing,such as historical tables,bar charts and pie charts,and to improve students’ ability to interpret data sources by deepening their understanding of data sources in the classroom and providing them with targeted training after class on selected measurement questions.The mastery of data history application strategies will enable teachers to use data history more flexibly in their teaching,thus presenting history visually and providing favourable conditions for improving the effectiveness of history classroom teaching.Finally,the teaching design of The Two Opium Wars is used as an example and put into practice to enhance the feasibility of this paper’s theory.
