In the 1990 s,China began to implement the basic education reform with quality education as the core. The quality education implemented in the basic education stage advocates the comprehensive cultivation of scientific literacy. As the basis of science education, the science curriculum in primary schools has been implemented and popularized at all levels in primary and secondary schools throughout the country since the new version of the science curriculum standard for primary schools of compulsory education was put forward in 2017,and has become a necessary basic subject in primary schools. However, affected by the understanding of science education and the conditions of starting the course, the actual implementation of this course is uneven in various schools.Taking 8 primary schools in Y City as the research object, starting from the current situation of the implementation of science curriculum of the selected objects, this thesis comprehensively uses the methods of literature research, interview and classroom observation to investigate and analyze the actual opening of science curriculum in primary schools, and finds out the existing problems.Through the thinking of existing research and the current situation of the implementation of science curriculum at home and abroad, this thesis finds out the solutions to the problems.Through the investigation and analysis of the implementation of science curriculum in 8 representative case schools, this thesis attempts to make an overall portrait of the current situation of primary school science education in Y City, which not only provides an urban school group case for China’s primary school science education practice case base, but also expresses my rational thinking on the position of science education based on pedagogy as a primary school science teacher. The research shows that the eight case schools have taken certain actions in paying attention to the development of science education resources inside and outside the school and stimulating students’ scientific interest.Individual schools have made effective exploration in carrying out characteristic school-based science curriculum development in combination with the actual situation of the region. For example,Dong Sheng primary school has formed an influential "Dong Sheng sample" of aerospace characteristic scientific literacy education in the country. However,on the whole, the implementation effect is not ideal. There are some problems, such as uneven attention to the curriculum, general lack of teaching ability of science curriculum, the goal of scientific inquiry is difficult to implement, imperfect evaluation mechanism of science education and so on.The investigation found that the problems of science curriculum teaching in case schools are not only caused by the ideological understanding of schools and teachers, but also affected by the imperfect mechanism of collaborative education among schools, parents and society. In accordance to the relevant suggestions and requirements of the new version of primary school science curriculum standard for compulsory education,on the basis of analysis of the existing problems and causes, and on the foundation of the concept of quality education, this thesis puts forward optimization and improvement suggestions for the effective implementation of primary school science curriculum, including further attention to the status of primary school science curriculum, enhancement of the professional quality training of teachers, establishment of all regional management mechanisms for science teachers, rational development and utilization of science education curriculum resources inside and outside the school, construction of efficient and dynamic science classroom, improvement of science curriculum evaluation system, and etc.
