A Research On Community Participation Of Migrant Private Business Owners From The Social Work Perspective

Community plays an indispensable role in social stability.Social work in community helps community accomplish its own mission and responsibility effectively,which also plays an important role in building the community which has neighborhood harmony and solidarity and friendship.Nowadays,our country have made a certain achievement on the management and service of migrant population with the increasing number of migrant population.But still some migrant population in their workplace and community can’t get the sense of belonging and identity.Such as migrant private business owners.All sides resident are needed to take part in new community.However,migrant private business owners in x street community has low participation,which do harm to their involving in community and society and the building of new community.Therefore,it’s necessary to carry out the intervention of social work,improve their participating enthusiasm and abilities.Thus it can strengthen their social capital and comprehensive abilities,which helps them the better integration of local community.Based on above background for conduct a study,the thesis is aim at improving the endogenous power and abilities of migrant private business owners by conducting series of community public health projects activities,which can help them the better integration for improving the sense of belonging and identity.Migrant private business owners were used as research object in the study.This paper used literature,interviews and participant observation,adopted such methodologies as questionnaire and interviews,and collected current problems and its reasons among migrant private business owners.Through investigations,low benefit connection between activities and self-interest,few participation channel,language barrier and so on are the main reasons which lead to low participating of migrant private business owners.Based on social capital theory,empowerment theory and community development theory,the study adapted community work method and group work method.And through conducting community public health projects,hired migrant private business owners as volunteers.Those volunteers took part in these projects to service for community residents,which helped migrant private business owners improve their community participation abilities.The writer found that through the intervention of social work,the endogenous motivation participation ability of migrant private business owners communities has been improved to a certain extent,and they started to expect to join the project service next time.Of course,community,social work service station and migrant private business owners are needed to cooperate to maintain the achievement of the project.Strengthen external resources connection,explore and cultivate community key stuff,change the community function can create better community future together.
