Practical Study Of Group Work To Improve Network Media Literacy Of Empty-Nest Elderly In Towns

In the era of rapid development of the aging population and advanced information,how to better integrate the elderly into society has become an inescapable problem for us.However,while the use of the Internet by urban empty nest elderly has brought dividends,their own lack of internet media literacy has caused many problems,such as being repeatedly cheated by the internet and being easily induced by false information on the Internet.Therefore,it is necessary to pay attention to the internet life of empty-nest elderly in towns and improve their internet literacy.Through questionnaires and interviews,the author found that there are four main problems in the Internet literacy of the empty-nest elderly in Anhui S community: first,they cannot accurately judge and obtain Internet information;second,they have perceptual bias towards the Internet;third,they cannot effectively use the internet;fourth,they lack awareness of Internet safety and are vulnerable to Internet;Fourthly,they lack awareness of online safety and are vulnerable to online fraud.In response to the above problems,the author selected nine members from the empty-nest elderly in community S of Anhui Province and established an "Internet media literacy enhancement group".The main objectives were to strengthen the knowledge base of internet media literacy among the empty-nest elderly in towns,to promote the use of Internet literacy,to accurately judge and evaluate Internet information,to improve internet use skills and the ability to screen and discriminate internet information,and to change misconceptions about internet media.After five group activities,the evaluation results showed that the group members’ ability to perceive online media,use online media,and screen and discriminate online information all improved to a certain extent,and the objectives of the group work were basically achieved.Finally,the author proposed countermeasures to improve the Internet media literacy of empty-nest elderly in towns: strengthen the supervision of Internet media use,build a good environment for the elderly to use the Internet,increase the education of the elderly on Internet media literacy,pay attention to the support of the elderly family,and play an active role of social workers in the internet media literacy of elderly.
