In our daily life,procrastination is a relatively common problem,mainly manifested in the postponement of plans or tasks,resulting in negative emotions,such as confession,anxiety,insomnia,restlessness,and even some adverse consequences.University management environment is relatively loose,while the learning style is relatively free,easy to appear the phenomenon of academic procrastination.Future time perception,as a stable personality trait,plays an important role in coping with academic tasks.Previous studies have confirmed that individuals with high future time perception have fewer procrastination behaviors.In this study,the effects of future time perception on academic procrastination were investigated from the perspective of time,and the relationship between future time perception and academic procrastination was explored.Self-control and achievement goal orientation were used as mediators to explore the internal mechanism.In this study,583 college students were surveyed online by future Time Insight Scale,Self-control Scale,Achievement Goal Orientation Scale and College Student Academic Procrastination Scale.A total of 527 valid questionnaires were collected.SPSS26.0 software was used for statistical analysis of data.AMOS26.0 software was used for structural equation analysis of latent variable mediation effect,and Bootstrap method was used to verify the parallel mediation model and mediation effect.The research results are as follows:(1)College students’ future time insight,achievement goal orientation and selfcontrol are all above the medium level,which indicates that college students have high future time insight,achievement goal orientation and self-control.(2)Independent sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance showed that there were significant differences in the future time insight of college students in terms of major and whether they were student leaders.In terms of majors,the scores of college students majoring in science and technology are significantly higher than those majoring in arts.In terms of whether they are student leaders,the scores of college students who are student leaders are significantly higher than those who are not.(3)Through independent sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance,it is found that there are significant differences in the achievement goal orientation of college students in whether they are student leaders and grade.In terms of whether they are student leaders,the scores of college students who have been student leaders are significantly higher than those of other college students.In terms of grades,the seniors were significantly higher than the other grades,followed by the freshmen,and somewhat lower for the sophomores and juniors.(4)Independent sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance showed that there were significant differences in self-control of college students in terms of whether they were the only child and grade.In terms of whether they are only children,the scores of college students who are not only children are significantly higher than those who are not only children.In grade,seniors scored highest,followed by freshmen,while juniors had the lowest levels of self-control.(5)Independent sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance showed that there was a significant difference in academic procrastination between the sexes.Male college students have significantly lower levels of academic procrastination than female college students.(6)There is a significant positive correlation between future time insight,achievement goal orientation and self-control of college students,which indicates that college students with higher future time insight tend to have higher levels of achievement goal orientation and self-control.College students’ future time insight,achievement goal orientation and self-control are negatively correlated with academic procrastination,which indicates that college students with higher future time insight,achievement goal orientation and self-control have less procrastination behavior when facing academic tasks.(7)Achievement goal orientation and self-control have a mediating effect between future time insight and academic procrastination.Specifically,future time insight can reduce academic procrastination caused by vague goals and lack of motivation by providing goal motivation for college students.At the same time,future time insight can also enable college students to have a higher level of self-control when completing academic tasks,so as to reduce academic procrastination.(8)Achievement goal orientation and self-control play a chain mediating role between future time insight and academic procrastination.The research results show that in the future time perspective can through the achievement goal orientation-self control chain of intermediary role impact on academic procrastination,high in the future time perspective can provide individuals with good achievement goal orientation,through self control adjusted again,college students in the study of academic procrastination is relatively low. |
