With the continuous reform of education,reading teaching has been paid more and more attention.For low-level students in primary school,teachers should pay attention to English listening,speaking and reading,and improve students’ reading ability and English learning ability step by step.The lower primary school students are young and still in the sensitive and critical period of language learning.Therefore,it is more important for the lower primary school students to learn English in context.However,due to the traditional concept of English learning,the teaching of English reading in the lower primary school is facing many difficulties and challenges.In recent years,picture book reading has been introduced into more schools,which is of great help to improve children’s interest in English learning.Students’ subjective initiative is changed,which can make students remember deeply and fully understand,so as to cultivate students’ English reading ability.Based on schema theory,this paper discusses the impact of introducing English picture books into English class on English reading of low-level primary school students.The experiment lasted for 16 weeks.The subjects were the students of class 1 and class 5,grade 2 of a primary school in Dalian.Class 1 is the experimental class and class 5 is the control class.The number of the two classes is 90.In the experimental class,teachers use two teaching methods,teaching the new standard teaching materials and English picture books at the same time,but English teaching materials are the main and English picture books are the auxiliary resources.In the control class,teachers only teach English textbooks.There are three research questions.First,what impact does the application of English picture books in primary school lower-level reading teaching have on the students’ learning interest? Second,what impact does the application of English picture books in primary school lower-level reading teaching have on the students’ learning motivation? Third,what impact does the application of English picture books in primary school lower-level reading teaching have on the students’ learning ability? This paper mainly introduces the combination of English Picture Book Teaching and the schema theory in English class,so as to improve the English learning interest and ability of low-level primary school students.In order to ensure the feasibility and effectiveness of the experiment,pre-test,post-test and questionnaire were used to analyze the experimental results.The study found that the introduction of English picture books into English class can improve the English reading interest and reading ability of low-level primary school students.The author puts forward some suggestions on English learning of low-level primary school students,hoping to contribute to the future research on English Teaching in low-level primary school. |
