Oral English teaching is an important form of English teaching.Primary school oral English teaching is of great significance to enhance students’ interest in learning oral English,to promote students to develop comprehensive English language ability and oral communication skills,and to develop English thinking.However,there are still many problems that need to be solved urgently in the current oral English teaching in primary schools.In September 2015,the State Council issued the "Opinions on Comprehensively Strengthening and Improving School Aesthetic Education",requiring drama to be listed as one of the school’s aesthetic education courses,emphasizing the importance of drama.Educational drama is a teaching method that applies drama and drama skills to classroom teaching and helps students develop in the process of actively participating in experience and interaction through situational dialogue,role-playing,improvisation and imitation.The reform provides new ideas to help students achieve the development of comprehensive literacy in the process of actively participating in interaction and experiencing performances.Therefore,based on the theoretical analysis of the use of educational drama in the teaching of oral English in primary schools,this study investigates the current situation of the application of educational drama in oral English teaching in primary schools,and analyzes and studies the application of educational drama in oral English teaching in primary schools.In order to provide reference and suggestions for the research on the application of educational drama in the teaching of oral English in primary schools.In the theoretical analysis part of the application of educational drama in oral English teaching in primary schools,this research starts with conceptual analysis,and analyzes the theoretical basis of the whole language theory,multiple intelligences theory and constructivism theory in the application of educational drama in oral English teaching in primary schools.Analyzed,pointed out that educational drama has the characteristics of subjectivity,process and interaction,and explained that the application of educational drama in primary school English oral teaching has the effect of improving students’ understanding and constructing language knowledge,language expression ability and communicative ability,and development of emotional attitude.,the awakening of cross-cultural awareness,and expounds the basic requirements for the use of educational drama in the teaching of oral English in primary schools from three aspects: preparation strategy,implementation strategy and evaluation strategy.In the practical investigation part of the application of educational drama in the teaching of oral English in primary schools,this research mainly uses the interview method and the observation method to observe the classroom teaching of a demonstration primary school in Guilin City,Guangxi for 2 months,and selects the students in each grade.A representative teacher conducted a personal interview,and the analysis found that the positive aspects of the use of educational drama in oral English teaching in primary schools mainly include: preparation strategies: focus on selecting educational drama materials from textbooks,educational drama materials are dramatic,educational The drama materials are close to life,the selection of educational drama materials pays attention to the physical characteristics of students,the selection of educational drama materials pays attention to the psychological characteristics of students,and the role allocation of students before the development of educational drama activities;implementation strategies: pay attention to creating oral communication drama scenes,pay attention to teacher-student interaction,Pay attention to interpretation and demonstration roles,and guide students into the play;evaluation strategies: pay attention to evaluating the accuracy of students’ spoken language,paying attention to evaluating students’ oral pronunciation standards,paying attention to students’ mutual evaluation,and paying attention to teachers’ general evaluation.The problems in the application of educational drama in oral English teaching in primary schools are mainly reflected in: preparation strategies: less selection of educational drama materials from extracurricular resources,insufficient preparation of performance props before drama activities;implementation strategies: insufficient time for drama activities,Unequal opportunities for students to perform,unbalanced interaction between students and students,some drama methods are not consistent with teaching content,ignoring the contrast between reality and virtuality,students are difficult to play,and teachers have insufficient control over the classroom,which affects the achievement of oral English teaching goals;In terms of strategies:insufficient evaluation of students’ oral English fluency,insufficient evaluation of students’ oral English communication ability,insufficient evaluation of students’ performance ability,insufficient evaluation of students’ emotional attitudes,and ignoring students’ self-evaluation.The main reasons for the existence of the problems are: insufficient theoretical knowledge reserve in the use of teacher education drama in the teaching of oral English in primary schools,weak ability of teacher education drama in the use of oral English teaching in primary schools,insufficient training and guidance of educational drama teachers,and hardware construction of educational drama teaching.Insufficient,the construction of the evaluation system of educational drama is incomplete.Accordingly,this study puts forward suggestions for solving the problems existing in the use of educational drama in the teaching of oral English in primary schools from five aspects: First,strengthen learning and enrich the knowledge of teachers’ educational drama in oral English teaching in primary schools: enhance teachers’ enthusiasm for autonomous learning;Strengthen the study of the theoretical knowledge of educational drama;Strengthen the study of the theoretical knowledge of teaching;Strengthen the study of the application of the knowledge of educational drama in the teaching of oral English in primary schools.The second is to focus on training and improve the ability of teachers’ educational drama to be used in primary English oral English teaching: strengthen teaching design ability,pay attention to scientific material selection and adequate preparation;strengthen teaching implementation ability,pay attention to effective guidance and reasonable control;strengthen teaching evaluation ability,pay attention to the main body Diverse and comprehensive evaluation.The third is to build a platform to strengthen the cultivation of teacher education drama teaching quality: strengthen the popularization of educational drama knowledge;invite industry experts to give lectures;invite famous teachers to give teaching guidance;provide a variety of off-campus training channels;establish educational drama teaching and research teams.The fourth is to increase investment and improve the hardware facilities of educational drama teaching: build multi-functional classrooms in line with educational drama teaching;improve educational drama teaching props and performance props.The fifth is to cooperate with internal and external forces to establish an evaluation system for educational drama teaching: establish and improve the teaching evaluation system for educational drama teachers;establish and improve the learning evaluation standards for educational drama students.
