The changing demands of the region over time, as it develops from a more industrial area to a more creative one, pose a great challenge to English teaching at the basic education stage. But there are many problems regarding the current situation of English teaching in primary school. Therefore, all Primary school English teachers face the same problems: we must think about how to arouse students’ continued interest in learning English, we must think about how to improve the effectiveness of English teaching, and we must think about how to create a student-centered and learning-centered environment.Following extensive research, the author found it worthwhile to research the application of Educational Drama in English teaching in primary school. It helps to improve teachers’professional development and create school activities, as well as having great significance in allowing students to embrace and practice the English language.Educational Drama is a medium for applying drama elements and techniques to teaching. It is a good way to develop its educational function and achieve the purpose of education. It originated in Britain and the United States. However, it only scratches the surface of English teaching in primary school in mainland China.In this study, the experimental sample size is as follows: students of eight classes from Grade Three to Grade Six of S Primary School and thirty-three English teachers from three primary schools in Optics Valley District. Regarding the experimental approach, the author used questionnaires, surveys and interviews to investigate and study the application of Educational Drama in English teaching within the schools. Based on the gaps between the students’ requirements and current teaching methods, this paper discusses the feasibility and research value in Educational Drama in S. Using this approach, the author analyzed 3 key problems in English class: unvaried teaching material, imbalance of time,and incomplete assessment. After this, a method is constructed to present an Educational Drama Course for English. This is composed of curriculum concept, target,content and implementation approaches.Above all, the author hopes to develop a practical method for the implementation of Educational Drama in the English classroom, as well as a point of reference for the future.
