Peer communication ability is an important social ability of young children.It can help young children establish a good peer relationship,and having a good peer relationship has protective and developmental functions for children.Children’s peer communication skills can be divided into four dimensions:social initiative,verbal and non-verbal communication skills,pro-social behavior and social barriers.Family is the earliest and longest developmental background of children.The family environment is a complex composed of various factors that people live in the family,which is composed of a hard environment and a soft environment.Will the hard and soft family environment affect the four dimensions of children’s peer communication skills?Which aspect of the family environment will affect which dimensions of the communicative ability of young children’s peers?With these questions in mind,this study conducted a questionnaire survey on 440 parents of young children,and conducted semi-structured interviews with 4 parents.The results are as follows:1.The four dimensions of children’s peer communication skills are well developed.There is no significant difference in the communicative ability of young children’s peers due to the child’s gender,single child or not,and birth order,but the age difference is significant.There is no significant difference in the communicative ability of young children’s peers because of the father’s education,occupation,and age,but because of the significant difference in father’s monthly income.The communication ability of young children’s peers is not different because of the mother’s education,occupation,age,monthly income,and family structure,because there is a significant difference between the main caregivers.The hard environment and soft environment of the child’s home are in a benign state as a whole.2.The family hard environment,soft environment and children’s companion communication ability have different degrees of relationship.Father’s monthly income in a hard family environment is significantly positively correlated with children’s verbal and nonverbal communication skills.The four dimensions of intimacy,emotional expression,and organization in the soft family environment are significantly positively correlated with the communicative ability of young children’s peers.The contradiction in the soft family environment is significantly negatively correlated with children’s verbal and nonverbal communication skills and pro-social behaviors.The knowledge,entertainment,and control in the soft family environment are significantly positively correlated with children’s social initiative,verbal and nonverbal communication skills,and pro-social behaviors.The moral and religious values in the family environment are significantly positively correlated with children’s pro-social behaviors.3.Father’s monthly income is positively predicting children’s pro-social behavior,language and non-verbal communication skills.Emotional expression and entertainment positively predict children’s verbal and nonverbal communication skills.Emotional expression positively predicts children’s social disorders.The moral and religious outlook negatively predicts children’s social barriers.Based on the above conclusions,this article puts forward the following recommendations:families value education investment;families create a good soft environment;kindergarten teachers formulate targeted education measures according to the age characteristics of children. |
