Research On Visual Symbols Of The Closing Ceremony Of Winter Olympics "NEXT HOST CITY ARTISTIC SEGMENT"

We live in an era dominated by vision.Vision and visual symbols construct social vision and become a new gateway of ideology and an important way to express power relations.The Olympic Games is not only the pinnacle of human sports events,but also a super-international stage.It integrates sports and art,so it has a stronger foundation in gaining global influence and identity.It can break the boundaries of inherent factors such as race,region and culture,and become a powerful social glue.As the most important Olympic ceremony,the development of the opening and closing ceremonies has encountered bottlenecks,which are increasingly questioned by the obvious political tendency and the high cost of manpower and material resources.In contrast,the "NEXT HOST CITY ARTISTIC SEGMENT" of the Olympic Games has been held in 11 countries for 41 years since it was born in 1980.Compared with the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games,its structure is newer and more suitable for the current characteristics of new media.Practice has also proved that since the popularity of the Internet,whether it is the Winter Olympics or the Summer Olympics,from Sochi to Rio,from Tokyo to Pyeongchang,and then to Beijing in 2018,the "NEXT HOST CITY ARTISTIC SEGMENT" has aroused widespread concern in the society.Scholars and audiences also realized that in the Olympic ceremony,in addition to the grand opening and closing ceremonies,the "NEXT HOST CITY ARTISTIC SEGMENT" has also become a platform for international communication and cultural exchanges among countries.This paper collects and sorts out the text and video data of the eleven "NEXT HOST CITY ARTISTIC SEGMENT" in the history of Winter Olympics from 1980 to 2018.Based on the analysis of image data,using methodologies of literature analysis,case analysis,text analysis,it constructs a stage division of the development process of the "NEXT HOST CITY ARTISTIC SEGMENT",and sorts out and summarizes the visual symbols in each "NEXT HOST CITY ARTISTIC SEGMENT".It is classified into four types:sports symbol,artistic symbol,character symbol and scientific and technological symbol.It discusses the meaning conveyed behind the signifier of the four types of symbols,summarizes the symbol types and changes in the overall characteristics of symbols in each development stage,and analyzes the social reasons.It is concluded that the application and presentation of visual symbols in the "NEXT HOST CITY ARTISTIC SEGMENT" is divided into three stages.In the first stage,attention is paid to the application of sports symbols,in the second stage,people symbols with unique national historical characteristics tend to be created,and in the third stage,attention is paid to the comprehensiveness and balance of various symbols.The overall characteristics of symbols have experienced changes from single to multiple,from the minority to popular,from history to reality,from nationality to cosmopolitanism,and the Olympic ideal,politics,economy and educational intention are the deep roots of the changes in symbol characteristics.
