Malaysia’s ethnic and cultural diversity and integration,resulting in a pluralistic language learning environment,so that different language teaching materials appear.Since the independence of the country,the textbooks in Malaysia National-type secondary schools have been changed four times in the 61 years of national development.Each set of textbooks has been used in schools more than ten years,and the content localization,characteristics,concept accuracy,values and other characteristics are different.This paper mainly takes KSSM junior middle Chinese textbook as research object.Chinese is an important subject in Malaysian public secondary schools.Chinese is also the second language for students at the Malaysian national-type secondary schools.According to the development trend of education in the 21st century,Malaysia’s ministry of education revised the curriculum of secondary schools accordingly and launched "Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Menengah(KSSM)".The new curriculum abandons the fragmentation of the previous curriculum and guarantees the integrity of its content in the form of modules.According to the language level of middle school students to set up the corresponding curriculum,do not increase students additional learning burden.The history of the research on Malaysian textbooks is not long,and there is not much related research.In particular,the two textbooks selected by the author are newly compiled by the Malaysian ministry of education in the past two years,and no one has researched them yet.To this end,author first by reading a large number of data collection and sorting out a clear context,then the explanation in the teaching material arrangement,through the questionnaire and interview survey method to collect materials such as user’s feedback and survey data analysis,found that both of the advantages and problems of the textbooks,and to investigate the use of the teaching material is in accordance with the syllabus expected goal,to provide first-hand information for textbooks to improve and improve,tried to evaluate in an objective perspective,points out the shortage of the proposal,the hope for the future textbooks write or improvement to provide certain reference.The thesis has five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which include the introduction of the research background,research purpose and significance,research object,research methods,research review,relevant terms and concept definition of this paper.The second chapter is an overview of the Chinese language teaching,current teaching materials and KSSM curriculum standards in Malaysian National-type secondary schools.The third chapter mainly explains the compilation principles and concepts of the two textbooks,as well as the arrangement of the textbook text system,language knowledge system,activities and exercises,and auxiliary learning system.The fourth chapter is questionnaire survey and data analysis.The fifth chapter is the conclusion,which is mainly based on the discussion and analysis of the previous chapter,points out the shortcomings of the textbook,and puts forward eleven suggestions on the arrangement and improvement of the textbook according to the user’s feedback.This paper thinks that the biggest characteristic of the textbook is to inspire students’thinking ability through high-level thinking questions,so as to exercise strict logical thinking,and then have the ability to solve problems and innovate.At the same time,the textbook aims to cultivate students’ reading ability.When arranging the textbooks and texts,supplemented by the column "appreciation of people’s tastes",it is intended to practice teaching and learning,and to enable students to read and understand by themselves,so as to stimulate their interest in reading and cultivate their taste in reading.The shortcomings of the textbook are:First,the description of teaching objectives and content requirements is too simple and general not detailed enough;Secondly,the hierarchy of Chinese proficiency training is not clear.Third,the comprehensive quality of students is not taken into consideration;Fourth,the textbooks text slant are many and long;Fifth,there are only few texts related to daily life and local literature in textbooks.Lack of practical writing and argumentation;Seventh,the teaching of grammar is weakened;Eight,the exercise lacks the interest;Ninth,classical chinese translation and writing exercises are difficult for students.Based on the above shortcomings,first of all,teachers suggest that the teaching objectives of each text should be clarified and the requirements of teaching contents should be elaborated.Second,the number of text articles in two grades should be changed to reflect the hierarchical nature of chinese language competence cultivation.Third,we should consider the allocation of chinese class hours and the overall quality of students.Fourth,reduce the length of the text.Fifth,add chapters related to daily life and local literature.Sixth,increase the practical and argumentative articles and increase the practical writing and calligraphy practice.Seventh,clear and strengthen the grammar teaching and increase the grammar knowledge.Eighth,design fun and actionable exercises.Ninth,teachers suggest reduce the difficulty of practice but ensure the quality of practice.Tenth,optimize the textbook standard application.Eleventh,strengthen the combination of teaching materials and multimedia technology to optimize or improve the teaching process.
