Abstract/Summary:
In Malaysia’s secondary schools, there are two Chinese Educational Systems. One is public educational system operated by the national government and the other one is private educational system operated by Malaysian Independent Chinese Secondary Schools. Therefore, two kinds of education systems have produced two sets of Chinese language teaching materials.This paper mainly focuses on a comparative study of two sets of textbooks which are being used by two kinds of education systems mentioned above. By studying the comparisons of two sets of textbooks, we reveal the characteristics of Chinese teaching materials. In addition, we analyze existing deficiencies of Chinese textbook and present some constructive suggestions.The full text mainly consists of four parts. The first part of the paper is concerned with the comparative analysis on textbook’s compiling structure between public educational system and private educational system. In the second part, we carried on comparisons in the model essays between two versions of the textbooks. Part three is to compare philological knowledge between two sets of teaching materials. The last part is to offer the conclusion and put forward some recommendations for improvement in the compilation of teaching materials.
