With the development of economy and life quality, the average life expectancy continues to increase. The society has gone through a demographic transition, where the older population size is increasing continuously.Support and care issues among the elderly have become social concerns.Facing the insufficiency of home-based and institutional elderly care,Guangzhou tries to apply time bank mutual support model in community-based elderly care services to respond to the growing demands of the care-dependent elderly population.Underlying the limited resources, timebanking is a way for people to give practical help to others by sharing services.Standing on the word mutual help and benefits, timebanking also promotes emotional communication between people and delivers the idea that everyone can contribute and make a positive difference to other people. It significantly realizes social welfare with the help of co-construction and sharing.Taking a view from the public to government, this thesis focuses on the study of Guangzhou residents’ willingness to participate in Guangzhou time bank mutual support model for elderly care as well as the influencing factors, based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and social exchange theory. The results show that health, marriage, understanding, community concern, propaganda, managing units, service time and frequency are significant factors. The interviews also let us know some problems in cognition, willingness, data recognition, professionals and institutional arrangements. To sum up,it’s concluded that propaganda, community interaction, health activities, service training, data sharing, youth and professional scale expansion, overall administration, time point norm,after-exchange protection, risk management and surveillance feedback system contribute to optimizing Guangzhou time bank mutual support model for elderly care and improving residents’ willingness to participate.
