Research On The Phenomenon Of Elderly Internet Celebrities From The Perspective Of Active Aging

As the aging of our society continues to deepen and media technology develops rapidly,the increasing demand for internet access by the elderly and the new increment of internet economy it brings have become a consensus,leading to the emergence of elderly internet celebrities on the Douyin short video platform.From the perspective of positive aging theory,using research methods such as online field observation,case analysis,and interviews,combined with theoretical concepts such as dramaturgical theory,affordance theory,and uses and gratifications,this study analyzes the reasons for the rise of elderly internet celebrities on the Douyin platform,explores their value from the perspective of positive aging,and proposes reasonable suggestions for some of the existing problems from different angles such as the platform,users,and government.Firstly,the development status of elderly internet celebrities on the Douyin short video platform is outlined.By selecting 12 representative elderly internet celebrity accounts and analyzing their short video content,daily dynamics,and interaction with fans,the common characteristics and development status of elderly internet celebrities are summarized.Secondly,the reasons for the rise of elderly internet celebrities are analyzed from dimensions such as social background,platform technology,behavioral subjects,and user demand.From the perspective of positive aging,it is found that elderly internet celebrities,as pioneers among the elderly who access the internet,not only provide new media lifestyles for the elderly but also play an important positive role in personal,family,and social levels.At the same time,there are many problems in the development process of elderly internet celebrities,such as the obscuration of the real-life needs of ordinary elderly people from a technical perspective,the entanglement of commercial interests,and the homogenization of content creation,which urgently need to be resolved.In order to maintain the sustainable development of the elderly internet celebrity community,more awareness autonomy should be granted to the elderly,and positive development of elderly internet celebrities should be guided through platform guidance and government regulation,establishing the correct social values and maximizing their positive role.
