Since the reform and opening up,China’s economy and society have developed rapidly, but social contradictions have become increasingly complex, and the problem of short supply of basic public services is prominent. The uneven development of education, culture, health care, environmental protection, infrastructure, social security and employment has gradually become the main obstacle affecting China’s promotion of social fairness and justice, coordination of regional sustainable development and maintenance of social harmony and stability. On the basis of combing the research progress of basic public services at home and abroad, this paper selects four levels of basic public services:education and culture, medical and health care, infrastructure, social security and employment, and quantitatively analyzes the comprehensive development of basic public services in the Yangtze River Economic Belt from 2011 to 2020 from three scales: regional, provincial and municipal. The level score of basic public services is measured by entropy method.Spatial autocorrelation analysis is used to discuss the distribution pattern of basic public services development. This paper analyzes the main factors affecting the development of basic public services by using the weighted regression model of time and space geography, and finally puts forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions for the problems existing in the development of basic public services in the Yangtze River Economic Belt. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)In terms of development level, from 2011 to 2020,the score of basic public services rose from 9.978 to 19.567.The score of education and cultural services rose from 1.787 to 3.697,medical and health services rose from 3.679 to 5.667,social security and employment services rose from 3.679 to 6.5000,and infrastructure services rose from1.672 to 3.703,which indicated that basic public services and various indicators have been improved to varying degrees, but the problem of unstable development speed in the Yangtze River Economic Belt as a whole and within provinces is more prominent.(2)In terms of spatial differentiation, the overall pattern of the development level of basic public services in the Yangtze River Economic Belt from 2011 to 2020 presents spatial characteristics coupled with its economic development level. The east-west pattern shows the spatial distribution of high in the east and low in the west, strong in the east and weak in the west;Spatial autocorrelation analysis shows that its spatial agglomeration characteristics are obvious; The local changes of the cold hot spot map show that the cold hot spots in the Yangtze River Economic Belt are mainly concentrated in urban agglomerations and cities with better economic development from 2011 to 2020,the cold spots are mainly distributed in the west of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and the hot spots are mainly distributed in the middle and east of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.(3)In terms of influencing factors, the development of basic public services is influenced by many factors. The results of the spatio-temporal geographic weighted regression model show that the economic development level, urbanization level, industrialization level and consumer market scale pass the significance level test respectively, which shows that these four variables are the main positive factors affecting the development of basic public services in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, but the sensitivity intensity reflected by these four factors is different in different regions. This paper summarizes the main problems existing in the development of basic public services in the Yangtze River Economic Belt from the above three aspects, and puts forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions on this basis.
