Research On Patriotic Education Function Of National Anthem In New Era

As one of the basic symbols of the modern state,the national anthem is an important vehicle for patriotic education in the new era.The Outline for the Implementation of Patriotic Education in the New Era emphasizes that "activities to raise the national flag and sing the national anthem together should be widely carried out throughout society" in order to enrich the vehicle for patriotic education.In recent years,the general public has become more aware of the national anthem,and the promulgation of the National Anthem Law has provided a guarantee for the standardization and legalization of the national anthem.In this new era,we have to continue to bring into play the patriotic education function of the national anthem and deepen theoretical research.This paper thus focuses on the interpretation of the patriotic education function of the national anthem in the new era and the exploration of the practical progression in the following four aspects:The first part presents the background and development history of the national anthem.As a symbol of the modern state,the national anthem emerged and developed during the historical process of modern nation-building.The national anthem of the People’s Republic of China,the March of the Volunteer Army,was born during the war years of salvation and survival,and was established as the national anthem of the People’s Republic of China after the founding of New China.The Constitution,the National Anthem Law and the Criminal Law provide legal protection for the use of the national anthem.The second part analyses the national anthem’s national attributes and nation-building functions.The national anthem is a symbol of the authority of the modern state;it shapes the sense of Chinese community through the embodiment of the elements of the Chinese nation and the representation of national culture;it establishes a national image of unity and solidarity internally and a strong,unyielding and aggressive national image externally;it strengthens the basis of the legitimacy of state power and constantly reinforces citizens’ identification with the state.The third part discusses the patriotic education function of the national anthem.As an important vehicle for linking citizens to the state,the anthem plays a patriotic educational function by carrying the collective memory of the nation,inspiring patriotic sentiments,promoting the spirit of China in the new era,and promoting patriotic actions by citizens in four ways.The fourth part proposes a realistic way to use the national anthem for patriotic education.It summarizes and outlines the optimal ideas for patriotic education on the national anthem in the new era,including strengthening citizens’ understanding of the function and importance of the national anthem,attaching importance to the analysis of the political and artistic aspects of the national anthem,implementing the standards for the playing and singing of the national anthem and ensuring the correct use of the national anthem in accordance with the law,and giving full play to the dual advantages of mainstream and emerging media.In terms of practice,the four levels are to strengthen the connotation of the national anthem and its value,promote the exploration of educational resources and formal innovation,implement the relevant standards and legal regulation,and expand the construction of physical bases and contextual experience to help innovate and deepen patriotic education on the national anthem in the new era.
