As the road of urbanization continues to advance, the scale of cities also continues to expand, the interlocking social structure continues to deepen, demolition and resettlement communities are formed on a large scale, and more and more residents are incorporated into the urban system. As a product of urbanization, demolition and resettlement communities have different characteristics from urban and rural communities due to human and regional factors, which are manifested in the transitional nature of community residents’ identity, group and class composition, and reconfiguration of authority. This makes the study of residents’ participation in governance in demolition and resettlement communities need to build a unique path from multiple subjects and combine their characteristics. In this context, this paper takes L community in Luoyang City as a field research site, adopts a qualitative research method, and combines the research perspectives of governance theories to analyze the current situation of residents’ participation in demolition and resettlement communities and the influencing factors.Firstly,we understand the participation status of residents in L community from four aspects: the main body of residents’ participation, the content of residents’ participation, the ways of residents’ participation and the motivation of residents’ participation. The study found that the participation of L community residents in community governance is not widespread enough and unreasonable in structure.Third, residents’ participation in community management and political affairs is relatively low.In terms of the depth of participation, residents’ participation is late and shallow in community affairs, and they are less involved in community decisionmaking and system formulation, and their role is limited;in terms of participation channels, residents’ participation channels are gradually diversified, but individual participation is greater than organizational participation, and the degree of organization is relatively low. Moreover, there is information inequality between community residents and community parties in terms of participation channels. These problems have seriously hindered the development process of community governance of demolition and resettlement;from the perspective of the motivation of participation, the motivation of L community residents to participate in community governance can be summarized into three main types: firstly, the drive of interests. The greatest motivation for residents to participate in community affairs is out of the acquisition of material or spiritual benefits.Secondly,it is driven by community identity. Finally,it is driven by the system.According to the research results, this situation is not caused by a single factor, but is the result of the combined action of multiple aspects and subjects, including community residents, neighborhood committees, government and community organizations.Among them, residents’ factors include residents’ own rights and interests, traditional values, residents’ sense of belonging, and residents’ trust;neighborhood committees’ factors include their own positioning, changes in management rights, community staff, and the interaction mechanism between neighborhood committees and residents;the government’s behavior is mainly administrative caused by compulsory changes, which is mainly reflected in excessive government interventions on the development of residents’ community governance capacity The influence of community organizations on residents’ participation is mainly reflected in the development of community organizations. Finally, based on the existing research results,we discuss the issues related to community residents’ participation and community governance, and try to put forward relevant suggestions and measures in an attempt to establish a pluralistic cooperation mechanism for demolition and resettlement communities, coordinate the relationship between community subjects, and promote the construction of residents’ participation and social governance community.
