Digital divide means the information divide among countries,regions,industries,enterprises and communities in the process of global digitalization due to the differences in the ownership,application and innovation capacity of information and network technologies.The silver information divide,as its name suggests,is the rapid development of the digital age,but some groups are falling behind.In recent years,China’s aging population continues to increase,the degree of social aging continues to improve,and social problems are becoming increasingly prominent.During the outbreak of coronavirus pneumonia,the elderly have become the focus of epidemic prevention and control due to their poor physical condition and multiple underlying diseases.In addition,the elderly have some obstacles in receiving information on prevention and control,lack of awareness of infectious diseases,lack of self-protection awareness,inconvenient travel,affect life and purchase of basic goods,posing a great threat to health.The "silver dilemma" caused by the novel coronavirus is drawing people’s attention.The elderly face an "information divide" and even a "digital divide".Based on the above background,this study will old people as research object,with its media usage as the research content,use and satisfaction theory to carry on the analysis,focuses on the causes of the digital divide,specific performance,etc.,and based on the social governance perspective,this paper combined with the current state of China’s aging population,the author put forward the strategy of the different media and promote each other in the elderly,The research contents are as follows:(1)By summarizing research results at home and abroad,differences in research fields at home and abroad,and problems in domestic research,we find that the current development of new media in China is far from meeting the requirements of the elderly,and there are still big obstacles.Based on the current situation,relevant survey methods are proposed for empirical analysis.Based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs,the feasibility of the empirical survey,the objectives of the questionnaire and the implementation plan of the detailed content,and the data analysis are discussed in detail.In addition,it also explains the selection of sampling survey areas and samples,expounds the specific situation from the survey plan to the landing,and summarizes the number of samples and data statistics.(2)Analyze the basic situation of interviewees and compare different media users through questionnaires.Next,it describes in detail the data information of the elderly group’s use of digital TV,mobile phone and Internet,analyzes and discusses various media services such as digital TV,mobile phone and Internet,and expounds in detail the preferences,attitudes and requirements of the elderly group for various media services.Finally,it shows the relationship between the demographic characteristics of the elderly and media use behavior.(3)Starting from the "Use and satisfaction theory" and the "digital divide" theory,this paper further verifies the existing research results,and then explores the factors influencing media use behavior.Mainly from the individual factors,social factors,media factors to explain its specific impact on the elderly group.(4)This paper summarizes the experience of media development at home and abroad,and provides reference for the development of new media in China.Based on the analysis of the factors affecting the use of media and empirical research data,according to the current social situation of aging population,how to bridge the gap caused by the digital divide from multiple perspectives of old and new media.Through a series of empirical investigations,this paper explores the media use of the elderly in Bole city,Xinjiang,and the important reasons that affect the use and media satisfaction of the elderly.In addition,the relationship between the supply and demand of the elderly population and media in Bole City,Xinjiang is also investigated.These data analysis is crucial for the development of new media and the realization of a healthy aging society.
