| With the rise of the information technology revolution and the irreversible aging of the population,the contradiction between the two is becoming more and more prominent,and the "silver-haired" people are forced to become "digital relics".Therefore,it is a significant academic issue and a far-reaching issue of the times to make joint efforts to bridge the digital divide.This paper focuses on the digital integration of the elderly,using a combination of online and offline research methods,questionnaires,in-depth interviews,and observation methods to explore the digital integration of the elderly in urban areas of Hohhot City,Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region,and finds that the following integration difficulties exist: first,low access to new media and more restrictions on access;second,lack of digital skills and weak interest in using them;third,insufficient media literacy and significant intergenerational differences;fourth,the elderly are forced to become "digital legacies".Fourth,the digital rights of the elderly are easily violated by hidden algorithmic discrimination;fifth,the media is slow to adapt to aging and the elderly group suffers from media aphasia.The author analyzes the causes of the dilemma from the perspectives of the elderly themselves,family,society,government and media,and believes that the causes of the dilemma are: first,the disparity in individual resource endowment of the elderly;second,the lack of intergenerational feedbacks in the family field;third,the digital barrier and aging bias in society;fourth,the lack of government services related to the elderly;fifth,technological exclusion and media discrimination restrict the elderly from sharing digital achievements and widen the communication gap.The paper concludes with a review of the individual,media and society.Finally,this paper proposes a solution to the digital integration dilemma of the elderly from the perspectives of individuals,media and society,firstly,to help the elderly change their concepts,enhance their awareness of new media and improve their media literacy level;secondly,to improve the old and new media suitability,develop age-friendly technology,strengthen information gate-keeping,and build a positive media reporting framework to jointly create an age-friendly network environment;thirdly,to establish a comprehensive social Thirdly,we should establish a comprehensive social support system to bridge the cracks in the family field and coordinate all social parties to build a digital life support circle for the elderly,so as to help the elderly better adapt to and integrate into the smart society and enjoy their old age. |
