With the accelerating process of population aging in China, the implementation of active response to population aging has become a national strategy.Especially in the Internet era,it is of great significance to help the elderly to bridge the "digital divide",meet their spiritual and cultural needs and enhance their subjective well-being.Existing research has confirmed that the Internet has a significant impact on the subjective well-being of the elderly, but there is no unified conclusion on the causes, directions and differences of the impact under different circumstances. Moreover, the existing research results mostly stay at the behavioral level of Internet use,and lack the discussion of psychological and value levels. At the same time, the research on the mechanism of relevant research is not comprehensive, and it is not discussed in combination with the current era background.Based on the literature review, this paper puts forward the concept of digital integration, conducts empirical research on the research theme of the impact of digital integration on the subjective well-being of the elderly, selects the data of the comprehensive survey of China’s social conditions in 2017 and 2019,and analyzes the impact of digital integration on the subjective well-being of the elderly from the three dimensions of digital integration: digital access layer, digital use layer and digital literacy layer by establishing an orderly response Oprobit model, and further investigates the impact of digital integration.Through heterogeneity analysis, the impact of digital integration on subjective well-being in specific elderly people was further compared and analyzed.Through the theoretical analysis of consumption structure, social participation and social identity, the mechanism behind the influence is deeply studied. The robustness of the model is tested by changing the econometric model and the method of propensity value matching, and the endogenous problem is handled by the instrumental variable method to ensure the authenticity and reliability of the results. The conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)Digital access, digital use, digital literacy and the degree of digital integration of total indicators all have positive effects on the subjective well-being of the elderly.(2)Among different groups, the effects of digital integration on the subjective well-being of older adults are heterogeneous. The digital integration of agricultural hukou, central and western regions, and elderly people with spouses had a positive impact on their subjective well-being,and the improvement effect was greater for the elderly with high education than for the elderly with low education.Nonagricultural hukou, eastern regions, and digital integration of the elderly without a spouse had no significant effect on their subjective well-being.(3)The impact of digital integration on the subjective well-being of the elderly does have some mechanisms, including: digital integration can optimize the consumption structure, promote social participation, improve the level of social identity, and then improve the subjective well-being of the elderly. And the results are different from simply examining digital access, and the use of digital integration indicators can more comprehensively measure the impact of the Internet on the subjective well-being of the elderly, which is more far-reaching.Based on the above conclusions,in order to effectively improve the subjective wellbeing of the elderly in the Internet era, this paper puts forward the following suggestions:First, society should pay attention to the "digital divide" of the elderly and encourage the elderly to use the Internet.Second, the government should continue to improve the top-level design suitable for aging and strengthen the normative guidance for all parties.Third, families should take responsibility and give attention and help.Fourth, the community should strengthen team building and create a good atmosphere.Fifth, enterprises should continue to promote the aging transformation of network products to a deep and refined extension.
