| Psychology is a discipline that develops relatively late in China,and its theoretical basis is mainly from Western psychology.With the continuous promotion of international communication in psychology,the translation of psychological texts plays a vital role in the development of Chinese psychology.Strength-based Prevention,Reducing Violence and Other Public Health Problems is a psychological monograph published by the American Psychological Association.This book introduces the important role of psychology in prevention work,discusses the current prevention work through various arguments,and puts forward corresponding suggestions.It shows the significance of psychology in preventing various problems.Under the guidance of Chesterman’s translation norms,the report puts forward the norms that the translator should follow when translating psychological texts.Moreover,based on syntactic,semantic and pragmatic strategies,the report analyzes the translation difficulties and translation strategies in the process of translation with specific examples.In psychological texts,the main focuses and difficulties are the translation of terms,the professional expression of common words and the processing of long and difficult sentences.At the same time,the translator should pay attention to the linguistic logic of the whole text.In the process of translation,the report draws on Chesterman’s translation strategies under his translation norm theory to flexibly selects suitable translation solutions,including paraphrase,visibility change,sentence structure change and so on,hoping to accurately convey the content of the source text,and improve the comprehensibility and acceptability of the translation.Those can help to meet the expectations of readers and achieve good translation.The main purpose of this report is to summarize translation strategies of psychological monograph and provide some references for translation of such texts. |
