A Study On Wang Chang’s Journey,Friendship,and Creation During His Military Service In The Southwest Region

Wang Chang lived through the Yongzheng,Qianlong,and Jiaqing dynasties of the Qing Dynasty throughout his life,and he was a leading scholar in the mid Qing Dynasty.He has made remarkable achievements in various fields such as poetry,history,epigraphy,classics,and local chronicles,and has created a wealth of works.In the 33 rd year of the Qianlong reign(1768),Wang Chang was demoted due to the “Huai River withholding salt cited case”.In the following eight years of joining the Southwest Army,he traveled to a foreign land and traveled extensively throughout most of the country.After the hardships and sedimentation of his military life,Wang Chang’s creative realm underwent tremendous changes,leaving behind a large number of poems and writings.This experience was crucial to his life.The article is based on the background of the Qing Qianlong Dynasty’s Qing Burma War and the Great and Small Jinchuan Wars.It examines and discusses Wang Chang’s journey,social interactions,and creations during his military career in the southwest,and studies the significance of his experience of being demoted and enduring the battlefield for Wang Chang himself,as well as the impact of Wang Chang’s literary activities on the literary circles and the Southwest region in the mid Qing Dynasty,and analyzes the literary and literary value of his creations during this stage.According to the temporal and spatial clues of Wang Chang’s enlistment in the southwest,it can be divided into three clear stages.In the first stage,on the way from Beijing to Yunnan,Wang Chang rushed to the border between China and Myanmar.In the second stage,during his time in Yunnan,Wang Chang experienced the Qing Burma War,had close friendships,and gave lectures,which played a promoting role in the development of literature and culture in the Yunnan region.In the third stage,during the Jinchuan War,Wang Changguan returned to his original post and joined the army again.His military achievements accumulated,but many old friends such as Zhao Wenzhe died one after another.These eight years of military service have been a training experience for Wang Chang himself.His creation reached the pinnacle of his life,and his social interactions promoted the literary and cultural development of the southwestern region in the mid Qing Dynasty.He also left behind rich documentary materials for later generations to study the natural and cultural features of the Southwest region during this period.
