The Use Of Body Language In Expressionist Style Movies And Contemporary Chinese Practice

In the light and shadow of hundreds of years of films,generations of filmmakers have continuously deconstructed and reconstructed the unique aesthetic paradigm and structural elements of German expressionist films,forming the creative landscape of expressionist style films.Its important feature is the use of body language as a basic element of narrative media and film language.In movies,the body is the material carrier of human beings,the focus of narration,and a metaphor for deep emotions.There is no unified standard for the use of body language in expressionist style movies,but there has been a characteristic creative tendency,which is manifested in two aspects: one is to highlight the deformation of body language in the transmission of psychological experience,including exaggerated and grotesque expressions,dynamic body movements,labeling modeling,and implied body distance;the other is to focus on the depiction of the scene where the body is located in the metaphor of interfering with life,Highlight stylized color and light and shadow processing.This thesis focuses on the use of body language in expressionist style movies and contemporary Chinese practice.This thesis discusses the logical starting point of expressionist films and the aesthetic characteristics of expressionist style films.The basic characteristics of German expressionist films are: exaggerated formal sense and spatial narrative variation;Gloomy and repressive character setting;The gloomy and dark image mirror language.This thesis discusses the aesthetic characteristics of body language used in expressionist style movies,and combines the practice of contemporary Chinese movies to propose that one of its aesthetic characteristics is the deformation of body language,which is mainly reflected in four aspects: exaggerated and grotesque expressions;Powerful body movements;Labeled modeling;Implicit body distance;The second aesthetic feature is the metaphor of body language,which is mainly reflected in two aspects.The scene where the body is located is an important way of image expression,and simplified color and light and shadow processing help achieve a metaphorical relationship between the body language and the external environment of the story.From a creative perspective,this thesis analyzes how body language participates in the content narrative and form creation of expressionist style movies in combination with the graduation short film "The Eleventh",and reflects on the use of body language in expressionist style movies.
