Of the three major architectural systems in the world,Chinese architecture has lasted the longest,has been the most widespread and its achievements have been extremely glorious.In presenting China to the world,traditional Chinese architecture is an important element that cannot be ignored.This paper is a design for the development of a supplementary textbook based on the theme of Chinese architecture and culture.It is divided into five parts and aims to bridge the gap between Chinese architectural culture and the Chinese language for special purposes.The first part is the introduction of the thesis.By combing through the background of the chosen topic,the significance of the research and the relevant literature,the author finds that there are very few papers and teaching materials that combine architectural culture with the teaching of Chinese for special purposes alone,which provides a great deal of feasibility and room for innovation in the research of this paper.The second part is an overview of traditional Chinese architectural knowledge,which helps the author to better understand the cultural and historical background behind traditional architecture and culture through an in-depth understanding of it,and prepares the textbook for its development.The third part,an overview of the design of the supporting teaching materials,emphasises the uniqueness of the organisation of the themes and the linguistic form of the texts in the design of this teaching material development.The fourth section presents the design of the textbook,in which a sample lesson is presented with the content and exercises of a complete text,illustrating the principles it embodies,and concludes with suggestions for its use that will hopefully provide some direction for users of the textbook.The innovations of this paper are: there is no research on cultural support materials that combine specialised Chinese with architectural culture,and there is still much room for research in this area;there are few Chinese language teaching materials for foreigners that use the functional types of Chinese architecture as a unit theme;and the use of tour guide words as textual content to enhance the connection with specialised Chinese is also an original feature of this paper.
