The Ethical Study Of Traditional Chinese Architecture

Architecture,initially is only the shelter for human to escape against the beasts.With the development of society,enrichment of human's wisdom and improvement of aesthetic taste,architecture evolves slowly into a series of artistic works located on the land bearing the social cultures of different times and performing people's concept of time and space and increasingly personalized lifestyle.Traditional Chinese architecture reveals the atmosphere of traditional culture figuratively and profoundly,symmetrical and balanced layout,magnificent but conformal space,a wealth of fine architectural pieces and decorative colors,all these have rich ethics implication."Harmony" is a major feature of Chinese architecture different from the Western's not only referring to the the harmony between human and nature,but also emphasizing in the concept of harmony and moderation.Traditional Chinese architecture stands for the long history of Chinese civilization and reflects the philosophy concept of harmony between human and nature by presenting the constant pursuit of beauty through art substantial form.With the development of global economy and cultural diversity,traditional Chinese architecture is undoubtedly injected with the feature of diversification,there's also a clear logical sense in the form and geometry structure,fresh exotic cultures and elements of times can be found,too.With the import of the concept of modern Western architecture,on one hand it brings a new perspective of creation,but it also impacts the traditional architecture tremendously,especially the harmonious beauty of traditional architecture because of the blind preferences and imitation.As a result,a lot of works can't present the western fashion taste,what's worse,they lose the unique Chinese style and are caught in a nondescript awkward dilemma.Moreover,due to the lack of properly protection,our culture of traditional architecture faces many potential danger and enormous challenges.From the ethical point of view,protection and promotion of traditional architecture involve not only the personal accomplishment and behavioral norms of architects,but also reflect many moral issues such as the group morality and social psychological guidance and so on.Therefore,the research of ethics of traditional Chinese architecture has certain practical significances.The research on traditional Chinese architecture from the perspective of ethics must begin with the analysis of the characteristics of building itself by mining its ethical implication,then start from the social realities and moral view.This paper tries launching the analysis from four parts:the ethical evolution of traditional architecture,the ethical presentation of constructing skills of traditional architecture,the ethical implication of traditional architecture designs and the expectation of traditional architecture aiming to explore a more harmonious way in the collision between traditional features and modern elements.
