| The promulgation and implementation of the English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)has further deepened the reform of the English curriculum.The establishment of interdisciplinary thematic learning activities is one of the highlights of the new curriculum standards.It has also become the direction of China’s basic education curriculum reform.Interdisciplinary thematic learning activities are conducive to students’ integration of subject knowledge and improvement of comprehensive literacy.It is conducive to breaking disciplinary barriers,promoting the integration of disciplines,developing students’ core literacy and interdisciplinary literacy in problem solving,cultivating innovative spirit and practical ability.How to effectively design and implement primary school English interdisciplinary thematic learning activities restricts the development of English curriculum,affects the effectiveness of English teaching.It is an important problem that plagues most front-line English teachers.This paper mainly uses literature research method,questionnaire survey method,interview method and classroom observational method to systematically study interdisciplinary thematic learning activities.In the early stage,the literature research method was used to sort out the current research status of interdisciplinary thematic learning activities at home and abroad,which is aimed to find the breakthrough point of this research.Then,the survey research method was used to investigate the current situation of primary English interdisciplinary thematic learning activities and sort out the survey results,so as to fully understand the problems and causes in the design of primary English interdisciplinary thematic learning activities,and put forward corresponding improvement countermeasures.According to the survey research,there are two main problems in the design of current primary school English interdisciplinary thematic learning activities: teachers’ teaching concepts need to be updated;the effectiveness of all aspects of the event design is poor.After identifying the problems,I do an attribution analysis,including lack of design literacy among teachers;inadequate implementation conditions in schools;students’ basic abilities don’t meet the standard.Based on the comprehensive exploration of problems and causes,optimization strategies are proposed,including teachers’ quality improvement strategies and teaching design guarantee strategies.The results show that interdisciplinary thematic learning activities improve students’ scientific literacy and problem-solving ability in a certain extent,and play a positive role in the learning of English subjects.Therefore,the design and implementation of primary school English interdisciplinary thematic learning activities has become an inevitable trend of curriculum reform in China. |
