| The overall goal of the Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards(2011 Edition)indicates that we should design the overall goal by considering the progressiveness and sustainability of language learning.It can be seen that the core concept of holistic approach is fully reflected in the Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards(2011 Edition).Therefore,we should promote the situational holistic approach in language learning.In the situational holistic approach,the theme of the unit could be the clue which used to design the progressive teaching activities to generate the meaning of the theme.But in traditional primary English classes,our teachers often design the teaching by single course.The teaching design of single course lacks the whole consideration.The lack of relevance,continuity and progressiveness between courses weaken the integral function of the unit.It not only has bad effect on students’ cognitive development,but also is unbeneficial for understanding and mastering the system of language knowledge.That’s why this paper begins to focus on how to promote the teaching of progressive thematic activities.The author studies actively,with the help of action research,the author concentrates on studying how to promote progressive thematic activities in the perspective of holistic teaching approach.Aimed to design progressive thematic activities,this paper taking unit 4 of the fourth grade of People’s Education Edition English Book as an example,it wants to solve the key and difficult points in determining the theme of the unit and the topics of lessons,setting goals of the unit and lessons,analyzing and understanding the text and reconstructing the text,selecting and using the teaching resources,designing the progressive thematic activities and so on.In the past half-year,through comparative experiments and analysis of the results,it is shown that the implementation of progressive thematic activities has a great impact on comprehensive quality of primary school students.Through the research,it can conclude that the progressive thematic teaching activities are generally divided into three stages: analysis stage,implementation stage and reflection stage.Specifically,to design the progressive thematic activities,we need to rely on Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards(2011 Edition),teaching material and students analysis,then determine the theme of the unit and the topics of lessons,formulate the corresponding learning objectives,so as to form suitable learning content.It aims to design progressive thematic activities that aim at learning objectives and fit learning contents. |
