Under the social background of "great unification" in the Tang Dynasty, various fields of art flourished and developed. When it comes to the calligraphy of the Tang Dynasty, the regular script is represented by the four masters of the early Tang Dynasty, and the cursive script is created by Zhang Xu and Huai Su.Later scholars can not do without these exemplary calligraphers in discussing the calligraphy of the Tang Dynasty. After the An Lushan and Shi Siming Rebellion, the Tang Dynasty turned from prosperity to decline, and its national strength declined.Although calligraphy lost the style of grandeur and rigorous law in the early Tang Dynasty, the literati calligraphers in the middle and late Tang Dynasty were still engaged in artistic creation, and such literati calligraphers as Lin Zao and Du Mu emerged with outstanding personality, which distanced themselves from the style of law in the Tang Dynasty. His calligraphy is a part of the style of calligraphy in the Tang Dynasty, and also a starting point for later scholars to study the different styles of cursive calligraphy in the Tang Dynasty, which has a specific aesthetic significance of calligraphy.Based on the influence of calligraphy custom on their calligraphy in the middle and late Tang Dynasty, combined with the phenomenon of their mutual edification in family, poetry,Ci and Fu,this paper explores the aesthetic formula of their calligraphy context, clarifies the artistic characteristics of their calligraphy and its innovation and value in inheriting tradition, and opens up a new way for later scholars to learn from classical works. It provides aesthetic enlightenment and aesthetic construction for later scholars.
