| Alongside the continuous development of the Sino-Kyrgyz relations, especially underneath the positive influence of the "Belt and Road" initiative, the number of Chinese enterprises entering the Kyrgyz market is increasing rapidly, and the demand for high-level local interpreters is continually growing. While the Kyrgyz translation business is booming, there is still a big gap between translation academic education and the market’s needs.Although many colleges and universities in Kyrgyzstan are already offering professional degrees in Chinese translation, including courses in interpretation, this thesis takes the Chinese-Russian Interpretation Course at Bishkek State University of Kyrgyzstan as an example, which is the first in Kyrgyzstan to advocate the establishment of one of the colleges and universities specializing in Chinese-Russian translation, aiming to cultivate professionals with high comprehensive quality and strong language foundation, who can join the interpretation and translation market. The survey respondents in this paper selected several staff members of Chinese enterprises in Kyrgyzstan, teachers of the Chinese-Russian translation course of Bishkek State University, and students of the 2017,2018 and 2019 classes of Chinese-Russian translation class in the same university as objects of survey. The survey mainly investigates the demand for interpreters from the curriculum and the market. The survey results are analyzed and summarized from three aspects: Chinese enterprise staff, teachers and students. After which the author combines the results with their own ideas and opinions regarding the subject, and provides suggestions for improving the curriculum of Chinese-Russian interpreting at Bishkek State University in Kyrgyzstan in aims to promote the education of Chinese-Russian interpreting in Kyrgyz colleges and universities,in order to contribute to the process of training local Chinese-Russian interpreters who are more in line with market needs. |
