In interpretation activities, the accuracy and completeness of the translation is an important criterion for evaluating the quality of interpretation.Since simultaneous interpretation requires high quality and immediacy,if an interpreter repeatedly mistranslates and omits translations, the quality of the translation would be greatly decreased.Taking the mock conference, the Future of Driving as an example, this paper specifically discusses the causes of the phenomenon of mistranslation and omission in Sino-German simultaneous interpretation and proposes corresponding countermeasures.Based on the author’s performance as a simultaneous interpreter in the mock conference, this paper, together with relevant studies, attributes the phenomenon of mistranslation and omission to three parts, which are divided into insufficient listening, inappropriate expectation management, and insufficient linguistic ability. The first part is classified as unbalance between multiple efforts, inadequate analysis of narrative argumentation and lack of extra-linguistic knowledge. The second part is specifically divided into over-reliance on the manuscript, semantic prediction failures and the third part is divided into inadequate vocabulary acquisition, negative transfer of the source language. Finally,in order to address the above-mentioned reasons, the author also analyzed the corresponding countermeasures in following aspects: strengthening the practice of narrative-argument analysis, expanding the encyclopedic knowledge and terminology, strengthening the expectation management, and improving the German language ability.
