| In Japanese-Chinese simultaneous interpretation, interpreters start to interpret after obtaining a certain amount information from the source language. The difference in the early and late initiation of output will have different effects on the quality of the rendering.By defining the initiation of output by Ear-Voice-Span,the author analyzes the impact of early initiation of output on Japanese-Chinese simultaneous interpretation and propose solutions. This paper discusses the impact of premature initiation of output and the solutions based on the case study of the KAO CLO Meeting. Its impacts come in two categories, namely inaccuracy and improper pauses, which are subdivided into grammatical mistakes and semantic mismatch. To address the problems of inaccuracy and improper pauses caused by premature initiation of output, the author proposes the following coping strategies: adding words and filling in neutral placeholders. This paper attempts to improve inaccuracy and improper pauses in simultaneous interpretation by exploring the effects of premature initiation of output, proposing solutions, and applying them in practice to improve the quality of rendering. It is also hoped that this paper will be helpful to other interpreters with similar problems. |
