With constant developm ent and progress of hum an society, interpersonal connection presents to be m ore important. Interpretation undoubtedly plays an indispensable role in communication in different cultures among people from all over the world. In the 2 1st century, development of interpretation gains wider attention in western countries. In recent years, developm ent of international communication in Ch ina proposes an increasingly higher requirem ent for interpretation quality and qu antity. As one of the i mportant interpretation skills, interpretation note-taking is also of great importance.The role of interpretation note play in in terpreting cannot be neglected. However, interpretation note is not sim ply minute or shorthand. In terpretation note usually does not focus on the content. It is more of an auxiliary means for memory. Then the question is how well interpretation note can assist in memory output. The paper combines Gile’s cognitive load model theory and metacognition theory. It carr ies out em pirical study on the relationship between interpretation note and out put by taking beginners of interpretation as research subjects. The paper examines how beginners of inte rpretation are taught to more efficiently apply interpreta tion note to as sist in o utput. In tha t way, their interpretation skills can be improved, which will further promote development of international communication in China. The paper falls into five chapters. Based on two th eories, it s tudies the relationship between interpretation note and output during Japanese-Chinese interpreting process am ong beginners of interpretation in MTI major. The first chapter presents research background. The second chapter introduces summary of studies on interpretation note. The third chapter illustrates main theories involved in the paper. The fourth chapter is mainly about empirical study in which the author applies ways of unstructured interview and analysis of students’ notes, etc. to analyze features of not e-taking for two Japanese-Chinese interpreting tasks accomplished by 6 Japanese MT I major in terms of important information point, logic relationship, sign utilization and language. In the me antime, it inspects the relationship between interpretation note content and interpre tation output, and analyzes results of data statistics. The fifth chapter is the conclusion.The paper expects to summarize the relationship between interpretation note content and output by beginners of inte rpretation. It aims to provide suggestions for interpretation majors to better use notes, and references for interpretation note teaching.
