| Guided by skopos theory,this thesis explored the translation strategies of various texts on the website of the China International Import Expo under skopos theory.The research approach is inductive,with the 4th China International Import Expo Exhibitor Manual(shortened as “The 4th CIIEEM”)as the study case.This thesis is based on the guiding principles of skopos theory and the “three approaches to translation for global communication”,which summarizes four translation points in translating various texts on international exhibition websites: distinguishing the characteristics of the domestic exhibition,taking care of foreign readers,promoting Chinese culture,and regulating professional exhibition,to analyze the translation of international exhibition website.As can be observed from the research,the texts of the 4th CIIEEM can be divided into three categories: A.Serving Foundation,B.Serving specification,and C.Serving publicity.Structurally these three categories are developed following the time order of the exhibition,which conforms to the reading habits of general readers.As for content,the four translation points should be flexibly applied in the process of C-E translation of the three categories,choosing appropriate translation strategies and methods to achieve the best publicity effect,and giving full play to the role of the international exhibition platform as a bridge.Besides,translators should always pay attention to whether the professional knowledge is domestic or international,there may be one more translator,who must ensure uniformity of words in such formal texts carefully,and the texts serving publicity should be close to the readers’ thinking model,that is to say,effective communication should be prior to the promotion of Chinese culture.In this regard,the suggestions of this study are as follows: 1.Build a translation database with the help of computer-assisted translation(shortened as “CAT”)tools.2.Ensure the consistency of translating professional words by real-time sharing database.3.Strengthen teamwork translation between man and computer. |
