A Report On The Simulated Consecutive Interpreting Of IEA Side Event On People-Centered And Just Clean Energy Transition

The importance of energy becomes increasingly visible in global sustainable development.Recently,the International Energy Agency held a ministerial side event on energy transition.This conference,with the theme of ensuring a people-centered and just clean energy transition,was hosted by Minister Dan Jorgensen from Denmark,and joined by ministers,CEOs of leading energy companies and leaders from the labor field.This conference highlights energy safety and energy transition and offers relevant suggestions.This report focuses on the simulated consecutive interpreting of the conference.Meanwhile,Interpreting is unpredictable in essence,so the author believes that the flexibility of interpreters is needed.Because of this,the author makes an in-depth study of the Translation Variation Theory.Guided by the theory,the author analyzes typical cases based on the methods of amplification,omission and adaptation.In this simulated consecutive interpreting,the author finds that the Translation Variation Theory is suitable guidance on the specific problems in interpreting.It offers solutions to mistranslation or omission due to complicated sentences or unfamiliar words in order to further improve the quality of interpreting.Besides,the interpreting of the energy conference can be of great help for people to know more about the current trend in this aspect and draw inspiration from that through interpreting.
