Problems And Strategies Of Deverbalization In Arabic To Chinese Consecutive Interpreting

The interpretive theory of translation proposed that there is a phenomenon of“Deverbalization” during the process of mutual conveying between two languages whether in interpretation or translation,it refers to a transition from comprehension of source language to reproduction in the target language,which is regarded as one of the basic skills of interpreters.Therefore,“Deverbalization” is a basic interpretation strategy implemented by interpreters in interpreting practice.It can be reflected in the processing of source language and expression of target language when interpreters comprehend enough meaning of the source language.Based on the interpretive theory of translation,this paper takes the author’s consecutive interpreting performance at the mock conference “Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed’s Press Conference Of Vision 2030 In 2016” as a case study.Comparing the transcribed text of the source language and target language and taking other scholars’ studies on classifying successful “Deverbalization” as a reference,it is concluded that the relative target language problems are divided into the chaotic logic of the target language,the unclear meaning of the target language,the rigidity of the target language and the redundancy of the target language.In the end,logical analysis,revised translations and useful strategies are proposed to make contribution to improving the author’s interpreting skills in the future and other Arabic-Chinese interpretation leaners’ ability of“Deverbalization”,which is conducive to helping them with avoiding making similar errors in interpreting practice and conveying the meaning of the speaker’s speech efficiently.
