Disfluency In Chinese-english Consecutive Interpretation And Solutions

Fluency is an important criterion for evaluating interpretation.Frequent disfluency in interpreting affects the transmission of information,causes audience’s distrust in the interpreter,and dents interpreter’s confidence.But disfluency is very common in interpretation,so it is important to analyze its causes and find out solutions.Based on the existing literature,this paper summarizes the classification of disfluency phenomena,and divides the disfluency phenomena in the interpreting for the mock conference into four categories: filled pauses,silent pauses,repetition and self-correction.Using the case analysis method,this paper concludes the causes of disfluency in the mock conference of "The Lecture Series on the 40 th Anniversary of China’s Reform and Opening Up:Challenges and Innovations Facing Deepening Medical Reform",which are the lack of logic and efficiency in notes,difficulty in English production,and problems with English pronunciation and intonation.This paper puts forward solutions,which are to optimize the structure of notes to display logic of source language,take notes mostly by English,better memorize terminology,put information in the context and strengthen the practice of English pronunciation and intonation.
