Explicitation Strategy In Translation Of Political Texts Into English

This paper studies and discusses the application of explicitation in political texts,and the selected cases come from chapters of Footprints of A Trailblazer.This book mainly describes Comrade Xi’s scientific solutions to some development problems in Shanghai at that time.In the process of translation,due to the stylistic features of political materials,it is often difficult to translate some words or information with deeper meaning.So it is necessary to adopt more flexible translation methods.Some words in the text have metaphors,which make their meanings more complicated,and some culture-loaded words have no corresponding concepts in the target language;The sentences in the original text lack links and the logic is unclear;There are some policy background information implied in the passage,which are not conveyed reasonably.At the same time,the project requires high translation quality and needs to meet the publishing requirements.Therefore,how to deal with these characteristic words and sentences,so that the translation is natural and fluent,and conforms to the English expression,is a problem that needs careful consideration.After studying the relevant researches and works,the author analyzes the original text and translation of the case,classifies the translation problems of the above words,sentences and paragraphs,and analyzes the translation ideas of the example sentences.It is found that in the translation of political texts,translators can effectively solve these problems through explicitation strategy.Combined with the specific discussion of chapters,it mainly has three application types: explicitation of word connotation;explicitation of sentence logic;and explicitation of political relations.It includes specifying abstract words,supplementing word information,integrating logic relations,combining article coherence,capturing real meaning and so on.In order to well convey the meaning of the text,explicitation as a means of translation,can properly handle the above difficulties and greatly improve the readability of the translated text.With a good translation,the political texts could play its due international effect,better express the attitude of China as a large country to the whole world and shape the proper image.
