| The 18thAnnual Meeting of the International Financial Forum（IFF）was held in Guangzhou,Guangdong Province from December 3 to 5,2021,with the theme of“Sustainable Development under Global Challenges-Competition,Change,Cooperation”.Due to the impact of the COVID-19,this year’s conference was held online and offline.The interpreter chose the opening speech of the forum as the simulated Chinese-English interpreting materials and conducted a simulated consecutive interpreting practice report based on it.Guided by Seleskovich’s Interpretive Theory,this report analyzes and summarizes this simulated interpretation practice,discusses four aspects:task description,process of interpreting,case analysis and conclusion.It explores the difficulties encountered by the interpreter in interpretation practice and solutions.In the task description section,the author introduces the background of the forum and the form of this task.The process of interpreting is divided into pre-interpreting analysis and preparation,simulated consecutive interpreting practice and post-interpretation feedback and self-evaluation.Among them,the pre-interpretation analysis and preparation includes preparing for the background knowledge,memorizing the financial industry terminology and arranging the various tasks of the simulated consecutive interpretation;the post-interpretation feedback and self-evaluation includes the audiences’feedback collected by the author and self-evaluation.In the case study,the author uses the Interpretive Theory as a guidance to analyze the four major difficulties encountered in this practice,namely,financial industry terminology,expressions with Chinese characteristic,four-character words,and semantic repetition.In response to these problems,the author proposes strategies in the conclusion of each clause,in order to cope with the above difficulties in terms of liberal interpreting,explanatory interpreting,omission,semantic integration,generalization,combination,and addition,so as to improve the quality of interpretation.In the conclusion part,the author summaries the gains made and reflects on the shortcomings and limitations of the simulated practice,and emphasizes the importance of enriching the daily training of consecutive interpreting in order to bring inspiration for future study and work.The ultimate goal of the interpretation practice is to improve communication and understanding.Through this interpretation practice,the interpreter hopes that people will have a better understanding of the development of the financial industry and the ongoing comprehensive Registration System Reform in China and strengthen their confidence in China’s development.At the same time,the interpreter hopes that this interpretation practice can provide a reference for future financial English interpretation. |
