A Practice Report On The Interpreting For "2021 China International Financial Risk Forum" Under The Guidance Of The Interpretive Theory

In financial circles,“financial risk”has been one of the hot topics.It is of extreme importance to gain a better comprehension of financial risk and uncertainties for academics and business people.Therefore,the Financial School of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics and the Modern Risk Society jointly held the 2021 China International Risk Forum(CIRF 2021)~1in Chengdu.The author acted as an interpreter for one sponsor representative and one guest for approximately an hour,providing Chinese to English consecutive interpreting(C-E CI).Based on this practice,the author aims to summarize the difficulties encountered and provide coping strategies.Following the analysis,the difficulties encountered can be classified into three aspects:(1)fragmented sentences;(2)redundancy;and(3)financial and political terminologies.Under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory,this report proposes the following corresponding strategies:(1)combination,reconstruction,and tree-style note-taking;(2)omission and keyword-based note-taking;and(3)quick consultation with electronic dictionaries and paraphrasing.This report is expected to provide useful practical materials for both financial consecutive interpreting practice and for interpreting training.
