| On July 22,2021,the 2021 China-ASEAN Training Course on the Development and Protection of Traditional Medicine and Conservation Technique Research and Demonstration was held in Nanning,Guangxi,and the author was invited to provide online Chinese to English consecutive interpretation service for the course "Dendrobium Protective Cultivation" that mainly covered professional knowledge in the field of agricultural technology cultivation in this activity.This report aims to provide a comprehensive review and summary of the author’s performance in this interpreting task.From the perspective of a trainee interpreter,the report describes in detail the preparation strategies adopted by the author when faced with a highly specialized interpreting task,as well as the challenges he encountered in the real interpreting working scenario for the first time as a student interpreter,and states reflections on these challenges.In the case analysis chapter,the author adopts the schema theory to analyze how the application of language,content and formal schema can solve and cope with the problems and difficulties in the author’s interpretation process,such as wordy translation,expression accuracy,background information deficiency,contextual understanding and so on.Through research and analysis,the author found that proper schema construction can help interpreters better receive and process information in the interpretation process,enhance language output and promote the realization of the communicative function of interpretation activities.The author hopes that this report will enable interpreting learners to understand the guiding role of schema theory in interpreting and provide a reference for engaging in remote interpreting tasks related to training courses. |
