A Report On E-C Translation Of A Survey On Internet Of Vehicles:Applications,Security Issues&Solutions (Excerpts)

In today’s knowledge and information explosion era,science and technology are developing rapidly,and new technologies are constantly emerging.Introducing and referencing foreign advanced technologies to promote the development of related industries has become increasingly important.More and more scientific and technological information and materials need to be introduced and used for reference.As an emerging field of technology,the translation of technical information related to the Internet of Vehicles is one such area.Because of this,it is of positive significance to carry out translation research on the Internet of Vehicles technology.J.C.Catford believed that translation is "the replacement of textual material in one language with textual material in another language" and used the concept of "shift" to describe the different linguistic levels of translation.Conversion is divided into hierarchical transformation and category transformation,which can provide translation guidance for translators from different perspectives.The translation material "A survey on the Internet of Vehicles: Applications,security issues & solutions" is a review of the current state of Internet of Vehicles research.Guided by Catford’s translation shifts theory,this report analyzes the linguistic features and technical features of the field of Internet of Vehicles as well as the key and difficult points of the text,and selects several typical cases from the lexical and syntactic levels.In terms of vocabulary,it mainly converts professional terms.In terms of syntax,according to different sentence patterns,the translation methods such as active and passive conversion,logical relation clarification,sentence structure reorganization,and part of speech conversion are used to make the translation conform to the customary expression of Chinese.In conclusion,this practice report is a useful attempt to translate Catford’s translation shifts theory into Chinese translation of Internet of Vehicles technology.A more readable target text is obtained,and some major findings and limitations in translation practice are summarized.It is found that Catford’s translation shifts theory has a practical guiding force for the translation practice of words in Iot materials.It is hoped that this practice report will have certain reference and practical guiding significance for the translation practice and translation teaching of related scientific and technical English texts in the future.
